Soccer history in the city
Soccer arrived in Kansas City in the early 20th century after immigrant communities from Europe brought their love for the game across the Atlantic. After a lengthy stint without a professional club, in 1995, Kansas City was named one of the original 10 cities for the launch of Major League Soccer.
