Stadium information
Name:
Bank of America Stadium
Capacity:
74,867 (reduced capacity for most MLS games)
Address:
800 South Mint Street, Charlotte, NC 28202, United States
Description:
Bank of America Stadium has been Charlotte's home since its MLS debut in 2022, a stadium it shares with the NFL's Carolina Panthers. It's located right in the heart of North Carolina, just a few minutes' walk from the financial district and Uptown's bars and restaurants, making it one of the most accessible stadiums in the entire league. Its capacity of almost 75,000 seats allowed the club to break the MLS attendance record in its first game, coming close to a sellout with more than 74,000 fans. However, for most regular-season games only the lower bowl of the venue is opened up.
The best way to get to Bank of America Stadium
Once you have your tickets for a Charlotte game, you'll need to figure out how to get to the stadium. Here are a few options to help you decide which one works best for you.
On foot
If you're staying in Uptown, the stadium is less than a ten-minute walk from practically any hotel downtown, making this the best way to get there and enjoy the full experience, with the pregame atmosphere out on the city streets.
By streetcar and light rail
The LYNX Blue Line light rail has several stops just a few minutes' walk from the stadium, including Carson and Stonewall. Meanwhile, the eastern and western parts of the city are connected by the CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar. Both are very convenient options if you're coming from neighborhoods in those areas of the city.
By bus
The Charlotte Transportation Center, the city's main bus hub, is about a ten-minute walk from the stadium and brings together most of CATS's city routes, so you can get there from almost anywhere and easily access the stadium.
By bike
The bike lanes downtown and the Rail Trail, which run alongside the light rail line, make getting there by bike very easy.
Bank of America Stadium guide
Since it's an NFL stadium, Bank of America Stadium is one of the largest-capacity venues in MLS, although for Charlotte games the usual setup reduces capacity to the lower levels. That's where we come in, since we have tickets for every Charlotte game. The stadium is organized into four areas: the two end zones, East and West, and the two sidelines, which are sold by level.
East End
The East End, on its lower level, is the club's official Supporters Section, home to the club's fan groups under the name The Crown, including the Mint City Collective. It's a general admission, first-come-first-served area where fans sing and stand for the full 90 minutes, making it the loudest and one of the most affordable sections in the stadium.
West End
The opposite end has a much calmer, more family-friendly vibe, with good value for money behind the goal. That said, it's also home to the stadium's most exclusive premium seating area, The Gallery.
Lower level sidelines
The lower level sidelines are the area closest to the field, without sacrificing a clear view of all the action on it. The south side is the main stand, since it's located on the side of the benches and the players' warm-up area. It's the most recommended choice for anyone visiting the stadium for the first time.
Club Level and upper level
The "Club Level" is the stadium's middle level, home to the premium rooms or "lounges," areas with wider seats, climate-controlled indoor spaces, and exclusive amenities. On the other hand, the upper level is the most affordable area, and from its highest point you can see the city skyline, although it's usually not available for Charlotte games, except for particularly big matchups.
Which area should you choose?
It's important to be able to choose the area that best fits your preferences so you get the most out of your experience, which is why we put together this handy table comparing them, so you can pick the area that best matches what you're looking for.
| Priority | Best area | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | East End | This is the stand where the fan groups are based, making it the loudest area throughout the game |
| Best visibility | Sidelines | The sidelines offer the best view of the entire field. However, since this stadium was built for the NFL, we recommend choosing seats closer to the center |
| First visit | Lower level sidelines | These are the areas with the best balance of price, atmosphere, and visibility, letting you make the most of the experience |
| Families with kids | West End | This is the area with the calmest, most family-friendly atmosphere, while still offering excellent amenities |
| Tight budget | End zones and upper level | These are the areas with the most affordable tickets, especially near the corners |
| Get close to the players | South side | This is the area with the seats closest to the benches and the players' warm-up area |
| Maximum comfort and exclusivity | Middle level (Club Level) | This level is home to the stadium's premium rooms and lounges |

Other information
Charlotte FC was founded in 2019, when MLS awarded franchise number 30 to businessman David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers. However, the club didn't make its league debut until 2022. Its colors are Carolina blue, black, and white, and its crest features a crown, a nod to the Queen City, the city's nickname honoring Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
Its debut was historic. 74,479 fans at Bank of America Stadium set an MLS regular-season attendance record. Since then, the club has established itself as one of the best-supported teams in the league. It's also known for investing heavily in its academy and its MLS NEXT Pro affiliate team, to bring North Carolina talent up to the first team.
Charlotte FC honors
Having only made its debut in 2022, Charlotte doesn't have any titles yet. However, the club has already become a regular contender in the fight for MLS Cup playoff spots and plays in the Leagues Cup against Liga MX teams every summer, meaning high-level games throughout the season. Tickets for Charlotte games, from the most affordable to the most exclusive, are available on Livefootballtickets.com.
Rivalries
Main rival
The Southeast Derby vs. Atlanta United
The matchup against Atlanta United is the big derby of the Southeast, since the two cities are just over three hours apart by car, a short distance in a country the size of the United States. Both teams also have two of the biggest fan bases in the league, who travel in large numbers, especially given a rivalry this close, which has caused the matchup to grow quickly in intensity.
Minor rivalry
The Queen City Cup vs. FC Cincinnati
Charlotte and Cincinnati share the nickname Queen City, which is how the trophy the two teams compete for each season came about. It's a recent rivalry but one with a very strong identity, so matchups against FC Cincinnati mean more than just three points in the Eastern Conference standings.
