Stadium information
Name:
America First Field
Capacity:
20,213
Address:
9256 South State Street, Sandy, UT 84070, USA
Description:
America First Field has been the home of Real Salt Lake since 2008 and is located in Sandy, about 25 kilometers south of downtown Salt Lake City. It's a stadium with one of the most spectacular views in the entire league, as the Wasatch mountains rise up right behind the stands. Its altitude makes it a stadium that's highly respected by opponents, since its more than 1,300 meters above sea level are unusual in the league and make the closing minutes of a game very tough.
The best way to get to America First Field
Once you have your tickets for a Real Salt Lake game, you'll need to figure out how to get to the stadium. Here are a few options to help you decide which one suits you best.
By light rail
America First Field is about 30 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, with which it connects via the TRAX blue line, which runs to Sandy Civic Center station, located just a few meters from the stadium, making this the most recommended option.
By bus
If you don't have a TRAX stop nearby, another option is the bus, with several UTA lines close to the stadium, making it a good alternative from the surrounding towns and the south side of the valley.
By car
Access from the interstate to the stadium is direct, which is why this is the option most fans use. The venue also has parking available around it. However, it's worth being patient or leaving a little early, since the exits get congested at the end of the game.
America First Field guide
America First Field is a compact stadium with no running track, so practically no seat is far from the field and visibility is good from any zone. That's where we come in, since we have tickets for every Real Salt Lake game. The stadium is divided into four zones: the East and West Stands and the North and South Ends.
West Stand
This is the stadium's main stand, located behind the benches and above the tunnel to the changing rooms. This sector houses the club sections and the suites, the most exclusive spots in the venue. Being a side stand, visibility is excellent, so it's fair to say this sector has the best seats.
East Stand
This is the opposite side stand, so visibility is just as good, but ticket prices in this sector are more affordable. What's more, from the upper part of this sector you can see the Wasatch mountains, especially at sunset, making it one of the best views in the league. It's the sector with the best balance between price, visibility and atmosphere, making it the most recommended choice for anyone visiting America First Field for the first time.
South End
This is the end where the club's supporters' group is based. It's a standing, general-admission section, where everyone in this sector is encouraged to join in the chanting for almost the entire game, making it the loudest stand in the stadium as well as the cheapest, so if you don't mind standing for nearly the whole game, this zone is worth looking at for tickets.
North End
This is the opposite end, with a much calmer, family-friendly atmosphere, and tickets that are usually more affordable than those in the side stands.
Which zone should you choose?
So you can make the best decision when buying your Real Salt Lake tickets, we've put together this short table comparing the options according to your preferences, so you can choose the zone that best suits what you're looking for and enjoy your experience to the fullest.
| Priority | Best zone | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | South End | It's the supporters' section, making it the loudest zone throughout the game |
| Best visibility | Side stands | As in any stadium, the side stands offer a better view of the whole field |
| First visit | East Stand | It's the sector with the best balance between price and visibility |
| Families with children | North End or East Stand | Both zones offer a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, while still offering excellent amenities |
| Tight budget | Ends | The South End is the cheapest, but if you'd rather not be near the supporters' group, the North End or the corners, including those of the East Stand, are your best option. |
| See the players up close | Side stands | Both side stands have fieldside sections, letting you get within a few meters of the players |
| Maximum comfort and exclusivity | West Stand | This sector houses the premium areas, with the stadium's best amenities |

Other information
Real Salt Lake was founded in 2004 and made its MLS debut in 2005. Its name is an explicit tribute to Real Madrid, since its former president, Dave Checketts, was a fan of the Spanish club. What's more, coincidentally, its colors are the same as those of the Spanish national team.
In 2009 they surprised everyone by beating the Galaxy on penalties to win the MLS Cup. It's also worth mentioning that their academy is one of the most productive in the league.
Real Salt Lake honors
Real Salt Lake have just one title to their name, that 2009 MLS Cup. Since then they've had to settle for the runners-up spot in the 2011 Concacaf Champions League, as well as in both the MLS Cup and the US Open Cup, both in 2013. Tickets for Real Salt Lake games, from the most affordable to the most exclusive, are available on Livefootballtickets.com.
Rivalries
Main rival
The Rocky Mountain Cup vs Colorado Rapids
The Rocky Mountain Cup is the trophy contested every season since 2005 between Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids. It's a rivalry between the only two clubs in the league located in the famous Rocky Mountains, and is decided by the head-to-head record of that season's meetings, awarding the winner a trophy run by the fanbases themselves.
Minor rivalry
Sporting Kansas City
The 2013 MLS Cup final, which Real Salt Lake lost on penalties, sparked a rivalry with Sporting Kansas City that has continued in the following seasons with several tense play-off meetings.
