Stadium information
Name:
Sporting Park (known as Children's Mercy Park between 2016 and 2026)
Capacity:
18,467 (expandable to 25,000 for concerts)
Address:
One Sporting Way, Kansas City, KS 66111, USA
Description:
Sporting Park opened its doors in 2011 in the Village West district, next to Kansas Speedway, and was the first stadium built specifically for soccer in the club's history, having previously played at Arrowhead Stadium and CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Under a sponsorship deal, it was known as Children's Mercy Park for a decade, before reverting to the name Sporting Park in 2026. The design, by Populous, includes a canopy roof that wraps around the whole venue and concentrates the noise over the field, which has made this stadium one of the most intense atmospheres in MLS.
The best way to get to Sporting Park
Once you have your tickets for a Sporting game, you'll need to work out how to get to the stadium. Here are some options to help you decide which one suits you best.
By bus
The stadium is located in the Village West district, connected to downtown Kansas City via KCATA's route 101, making it the most recommended public transport option.
By car
With no direct rail link, most fans choose to arrive by car, taking advantage of the stadium's location just minutes from Interstate 70 and its ample surrounding parking, shared with the Legends Outlets and Kansas Speedway. If you don't have a car, a taxi is a viable option.
Sporting Park guide
Sporting Park is one of the loudest stadiums in MLS, designed to keep fans as close as possible to the field, and its small size is ideal for enjoying a great sporting atmosphere. That's where we come in, since we have tickets for every Sporting game. The stadium is divided into four zones: the East and West sides and the North and South ends.
West Side
This is the stadium's main stand, with most of the suites and premium areas located in this section. What makes it distinctive is a design similar to English stadiums, where the benches are integrated into the stand, thanks to an exclusive club area very close to the field.
East Side
This is the opposite side, so it offers the same quality of view, with seats very close to the field, though at somewhat more affordable prices. It's a good option for those looking for a balance between price and visibility.
North End
The upper part of this end is home to The Cauldron, the club's main supporters' group, making it the loudest part of the stadium throughout the game. It's a general-admission section where fans stand. The lower part, meanwhile, is a club area, with small box-style sections almost at field level.
South End
This is the opposite end, with a much more family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere, although there are also some supporters' groups here. It's one of the venue's most affordable sections.
Which zone should you choose?
To help you make the best decision when buying your Sporting tickets, we've put together this short table comparing the options based on your possible preferences, so you can choose the zone that best suits what you're looking for and enjoy your experience to the fullest.
| Priority | Best zone | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | North End | This is The Cauldron's section, the club's main supporters' group, the loudest throughout the game |
| Best visibility | Sides | As in any stadium, the side stands offer a better view of the whole field |
| First visit | East Side | This is the section with the best balance of price, atmosphere and visibility |
| Families with children | South End or East Side | Both zones offer a more relaxed atmosphere while still offering good services |
| Tight budget | North or South End | These tend to be the most affordable sections in the stadium |
| See the players up close | West Side | These are the seats closest to the benches and the warm-up area |
| Maximum comfort and exclusivity | West Side | This section is home to the suites and premium areas, with the best services in the stadium |

Rivalries
Main rival
Derby vs St. Louis City
The clash against St. Louis City SC has been the club's biggest rivalry since the St. Louis side joined the league. It pits Missouri's two major cities against each other, inheriting a sporting rivalry both fanbases had already kept alive in other sports for decades. It officially has no name, though it's starting to be known as the Heartland Derby, after the country's industrial and agricultural heartland region, where both clubs are based.
Minor rivalry
Real Salt Lake
The 2013 MLS Cup final, which Sporting KC won in an endless penalty shootout, sparked a rivalry with Real Salt Lake that has continued in subsequent seasons with several tense playoff meetings.
