Shell Energy Stadium has been Houston Dynamo's home since 2012 and is located in the city's East Downtown, just a short walk from downtown and the Astros' baseball stadium. It's a stadium with a metal mesh facade that changes color depending on the lighting, and a roof that shields most of the stands from the sun and the tropical downpours that are so common in Houston. By light rail

Houston Dynamo was formed in 2006 out of the relocation of the San Jose Earthquakes franchise, even inheriting much of that championship-winning squad. To give the team an identity, orange was adopted as its color, and, like its nickname, it nods to the city's energy industry. The club has built its identity on its connection with Houston's Latino community, one of the largest in the country, which shows in the stands at every game.
Its arrival in the league was startling, winning the MLS Cup in its first two seasons, 2006 and 2007. Two more finals followed, along with a US Open Cup in 2018.
