Stadium information
Name:
Gillette Stadium
Capacity:
65,878 (reduced capacity for most MLS games)
Address:
1 Patriot Place, Foxborough, MA 02035, USA
Description:
Gillette Stadium has been New England's home since 2002 and is shared with the NFL's New England Patriots. It's part of the Patriot Place retail complex, located halfway between Boston and Providence, in Foxborough. Following the major renovation completed in 2023, the stadium boasts a spectacular curved screen at one end and a revamped lighthouse that has become the venue's signature feature. For MLS games, capacity is usually reduced to the lower tier of the ground, which concentrates the noise and brings fans closer to the field.
The best way to get to Gillette Stadium
Once you have your tickets for a New England game, you'll need to work out how to get to the stadium. Here are a few options to help you find the one that suits you best.
By train
The MBTA runs special Commuter Rail trains to Foxboro station, right beside the stadium. Trains depart from South Station and Providence, making this by far the most convenient way to get there from Boston without a car.
By bus
When there are no scheduled train services, the alternative is the bus, as the service runs from downtown Boston and a few other nearby towns, with a stop right at the Patriot Place complex.
By car
The stadium has huge car parks around the venue, with direct access from Route 1. Although the exit is organized by zones, leaving the stadium after the game can take quite a while, so many fans take the chance to spend some time at the bars and restaurants of Patriot Place.
Gillette Stadium guide
Gillette Stadium is one of the largest venues where an MLS side plays, as it's a stadium shared with the NFL's Patriots, although the full capacity isn't always opened for Revs games and the configuration changes depending on the expected demand for each fixture. The stadium is divided into four areas, although the side stands have practically the same layout.
The side stands offer excellent visibility of the whole field, and both have VIP areas and exclusive suites with top-level amenities. The only difference is that the benches and the players' warm-up area are on the west side, which is why it's recognized as the main stand.
Rather than distinguishing which areas are better than others, this stadium mainly organizes its levels by height, with Level 100 being the Lower Bowl, the closest to the field; Level 200, the Club area and suites, forming the middle tier of the venue; and Level 300, or Upper Bowl, which offers a panoramic view of the field.
The North End is home to The Fort, right beneath the iconic lighthouse. It's the section where the club's supporters' groups are based: the Midnight Riders and The Rebellion. It occupies the sections behind the goal, is general admission for Revs games, and is the loudest stand and one of the cheapest, so if you don't mind standing for most of the game, you could look for tickets in this area.
The opposite end has a much calmer, more family-friendly atmosphere, also with affordable tickets, but it also has an exclusive lounge area.
Which area should you choose?
It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your New England tickets. We've put together this short table where you'll find what's possibly the best area based on your priorities, so you can enjoy your experience to the fullest.
| Priority | Best area | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | North End (The Fort) | This is the stand where the supporters' groups are based, making it the loudest area throughout the game |
| Best visibility | Side stands (central area) | As in any stadium, the side stands offer a better view of the whole field |
| First-time visit | Side stands | At this stadium these are the areas with the best balance of price, atmosphere and visibility, ideal if it's your first game in Foxborough |
| Families with children | South End or East Stand | Both areas offer a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, while still having excellent amenities |
| Tight budget | End sections | These areas include the corner seats, which are usually more affordable |
| See the players up close | West Stand (lower central area) | These are the seats closest to the benches and the warm-up area |
| Maximum comfort and exclusivity | Club and VIP areas | There are various exclusive spaces throughout the stadium offering a higher level of comfort and amenities |

Other information
New England Revolution were founded in 1996 as one of the ten founding clubs of MLS and belong to the Kraft family, who also own the New England Patriots. Its name, crest and colors refer directly to the American Revolution, which began precisely in Massachusetts.
The Revs are one of the league's great protagonists despite never having lifted the MLS Cup trophy: they've contested five finals, four of them within a six-year span. For some time now, the club has also been working on a project for their own, more suitable stadium in which to enjoy soccer in the Boston area, aiming for greater identity with the city and its fans.
New England Revolution honors
New England doesn't have a great honors list, holding a Supporters' Shield, won in 2021 with a record points tally, and a US Open Cup, won in 2007. However, they haven't been able to lift the MLS Cup despite reaching five finals and having an almost permanent presence in the playoffs. Tickets for New England's games, from the cheapest to the most exclusive, are available on Livefootballtickets.com.
