Stadium information
Name:
Sports Illustrated Stadium
Capacity:
25,100
Address:
600 Cape May Street, Harrison, NJ 07029, USA
Description:
Opened in 2010 and known as Red Bull Arena until 2024, when it was renamed Sports Illustrated Stadium, it's one of the most recognizable soccer stadiums in North America, located in Harrison, New Jersey. With a very 'European' design, with the stands set very close to the field, its main distinguishing feature is a translucent roof that makes the stadium extremely loud.
The best way to get to Sports Illustrated Stadium
Once you have your tickets for a Red Bulls game, you'll need to work out how to get to the stadium. Here are a few options to help you find the one that suits you best.
By train
This is the best option, as Harrison PATH station — the train that links New Jersey with Manhattan — is about a five-minute walk from the stadium and connects to the World Trade Center in just over twenty minutes. The service is also increased on matchdays.
On foot
You can walk there both from Harrison station itself and from the Newark area. Around the venue you'll find BULLevard, a pre-game entertainment area with a great atmosphere that opens three hours before kick-off.
By car
The stadium is well connected, though traffic in the metropolitan area can be heavy, so if you choose this option we recommend leaving with plenty of time to spare. There are several car parks nearby, though almost all of them work on an advance online booking basis.
Sports Illustrated Stadium guide
Sports Illustrated Stadium offers one of the experiences most similar to a European stadium you can find in the United States, since its stands sit very close to the field and practically no seat has poor visibility, with all of them under the roof. At LiveFootballTickets.com we have tickets for every Red Bulls game. The stadium is divided into four areas: the West and East side stands and the North and South ends.
West Stand
The West Stand is the stadium's main stand, as it's the section located behind the benches, home to the press box and the premium areas. Being a side stand, it offers a great view of the whole field, and depending on the area, has some of the most comfortable seats in the venue.
East Stand
The other side stand offers the same excellent view of the field, but at a slightly lower price. What's more, from the upper part of this side you can see the Manhattan skyline in the background, making it the best option for those visiting the stadium for the first time.
South End
This end is home to the South Ward, the supporters' section where the club's fan groups gather, making it the loudest part of the stadium and one of the most atmospheric stands in the whole of MLS. It's also one of the cheapest, so if you don't mind standing for most of the game, you could look for tickets in this area.
North End
This section lets you experience the game from behind the other goal, with a much calmer, more family-friendly atmosphere and tickets that are usually more affordable than those in the side stands. Despite being one of the end sections, visibility is very good, and it has top-level amenities, just like the rest of the stadium.
Which area should you choose?
It's important to be able to choose the best tickets for your preferences, which is why we've put together this short table where you can identify the area that best suits what you're looking for, so you can enjoy your experience to the fullest.
| Priority | Best area | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | South End | This is the stand of the supporters' group, so you'll experience an atmosphere full of chanting throughout the game |
| Best visibility | Side stands | As in any stadium, the side stands offer a better view of the whole field |
| First-time visit | East Stand | This is the area with the best balance of price, atmosphere and visibility, and from the upper section you'll be able to see the Manhattan skyline |
| Families with children | North End or East Stand | Both areas offer a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, while still having excellent amenities |
| Tight budget | End sections | Both ends are usually the areas with the most affordable tickets, especially in the corners |
| Maximum comfort and exclusivity | West Stand | This is the section where the premium areas are located, with the best amenities in the stadium |

Other information
In 1996, the club was founded as the MetroStars, as one of the ten founding clubs of MLS, and competed under that name until 2006, when the Red Bull company bought the franchise and renamed it New York Red Bulls. As such, they're part of the Red Bull group's international network of clubs, alongside RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg. The club also boasts one of the most productive academies in the United States.
Despite having New York in its name, the team plays in Harrison, New Jersey, across the Hudson River, a detail that fuels much of its rivalry with neighboring New York City.
New York Red Bulls honors
The Red Bulls don't have a great honors list, holding just three Supporters' Shields, won in 2013, 2015 and 2018. However, the MLS Cup remains the club's great unfinished business, which makes every playoff tie a very special occasion for their fans. Tickets for the Red Bulls' games, from the cheapest to the most exclusive, are available on Livefootballtickets.com.
Rivalries
Main rival
The Hudson River Derby vs New York City FC
The Hudson River Derby against New York City FC is one of the most intense rivalries in the whole of MLS. It began in 2015, when the rival club joined the league, and pits two opposing footballing philosophies against each other: on one side, the historic club based in New Jersey that looks to showcase academy talent, and on the other, the newcomer that plays within the five boroughs, whose approach has been built around bringing in big-name stars.
Minor rivalry
The Atlantic Cup vs New England Revolution
The Atlantic Cup is the trophy contested every season between the Red Bulls and New England Revolution, making it one of the oldest rivalries in MLS. This rivalry is essentially rooted in the age-old sporting rivalry between New York and Boston, and is decided by the balance of head-to-head results each season.
