Stadium information
Name:
Stade Pierre-Mauroy
Capacity:
50,186
Address:
261 Boulevard de Tournai, 59650 Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France
Description:
The Stade Pierre-Mauroy has been LOSC Lille's home since 2012, when the club left the old Stade Nord and moved into one of the most modern stadiums in France. It sits in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, just outside the city, with a capacity of 50,186 — the fourth-largest stadium in the country. It was named after Pierre Mauroy, the former Mayor of Lille and Prime Minister of France, shortly after his death in 2013. The stadium has a retractable roof and a field that can actually be lifted and moved, so the venue doubles as an indoor arena for concerts and other sports. It has also hosted Euro 2016 and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Best way to travel to Stade Pierre-Mauroy
Once you've booked your Lille tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to the stadium. The club advises everyone to take public transportation. Here are the options you can use to reach the stadium.
By Metro
The metro is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Take Metro Line 1 in the direction of 4 Cantons — Stade Pierre-Mauroy, which is the last stop on the line and drops you right next to the stadium. Follow the Lille fans and you won't get lost. Line 1 runs through the heart of the city and connects to both Lille-Flandres and Lille-Europe stations, so wherever you're coming from you should be able to get to the stadium without any problems.
By Bus
The bus is a fast and convenient option, with several routes serving the area around the stadium. Lines 18, 32, 66 and B1 all stop close to the stadium. High-frequency services on the Ilévia network will get you within a short walk of the stadium from many parts of the Lille metropolitan area.
By Train
Lille is one of the easiest cities in France to reach by train. Lille-Flandres and Lille-Europe stations are both served by TGV and Eurostar, with direct connections from Paris, Brussels and London. From either station, hop on Metro Line 1 toward 4 Cantons and you'll be at the stadium in around 20 minutes.
By Bicycle
Cycling to Stade Pierre-Mauroy is easier than you think. The city has a good network of bike paths and the V'Lille bike-sharing program has docking stations across the metropolitan area. On a bike you can get past traffic jams and avoid the crowded metro on game days. From Villeneuve-d'Ascq and the eastern parts of Lille it's a quick and easy ride.
Stade Pierre-Mauroy guide
The Stade Pierre-Mauroy is one of the bigger stadiums in French soccer. Its 50,186 seats sit under a retractable roof, which keeps the noise in really well on big European nights. That's where we come in — we've got you covered with tickets for every single LOSC Lille game. The stadium is divided into four stands: the Tribune Nord, Tribune Sud, Tribune Est and Tribune Ouest.
Tribune Nord
The Tribune Nord is home to LOSC's most vocal fans. This is where the die-hard Lille fans sit. The Tribune Nord is known for the loudest atmosphere in the stadium. If you want to experience real French soccer, look for Tribune Nord tickets. The stand is located behind one of the goals, so whenever Lille play toward this goal, you'll get that authentic Lille feeling.
Tribune Sud
On the opposite side of the Tribune Nord you'll find the Tribune Sud. This stand holds home fans across most of the stand and away fans in a section of the lower tier. Especially during the Derby du Nord against Lens, you'll feel the tension and rivalry in the Tribune Sud.
Tribune Est
Along the side of the field you'll find the Tribune Est. This stand offers perfect sightlines across the entire field. For a business-class experience, you can sit in the prestigious club level. The Tribune Est offers a real hospitality experience. The Tribune Est is a bit more about luxury and a bit less about the soccer atmosphere, but you can be sure you'll have one of the best views in the stadium.
Tribune Ouest
It's no surprise that this stand sits on the opposite side from the Tribune Est. There are also quite a lot of similarities with the Tribune Est. You get amazing sightlines, but you'll also be surrounded by somewhat quieter fans. The Tribune Ouest is located on the side of the dugouts, which gives you a little something extra: you can hear the managers shouting and watch the players warm up from up close.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to make the best decision when booking your Lille tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters to you and you'll find the best stand for your needs.
| Priority | Best Stand | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | Tribune Nord | Home of the ultras, tifos, nonstop singing from kickoff |
| Best view | Tribune Ouest or Tribune Est Upper Central | Perfect sightlines along the full length of the field |
| First-time visitor | Tribune Est or Tribune Ouest | Balance of atmosphere and views |
| Families with children | Tribune Ouest Lower or Tribune Est Lower | Comfortable seating, good facilities |
| Budget-conscious | Tribune Sud Upper or Tribune Nord Upper | Good value, solid views |

Other information
LOSC Lille were founded in 1944 when two of the region's biggest clubs, Olympique Lillois and SC Fives, merged. Both clubs were founding members of the French Division 1, and Olympique Lillois had won the very first French league title back in 1933. The newly formed LOSC didn't hang around. In the years right after the Second World War they became the dominant force in French soccer and picked up the nickname La Machine de Guerre — The War Machine. They did the league and cup double in 1946 and collected seven major trophies in a single decade. Things went quieter for a long time after that, but the club came back under Christophe Galtier, winning another double in 2011 and then, most famously, beating PSG to the Ligue 1 title in 2021. Lille are also well known for producing and selling top talent — Eden Hazard, Nicolas Pépé and Yohan Cabaye all came through the club.
American influences
Lille's best-known American connection is Timothy Weah. The United States winger joined from PSG in 2019, spent four seasons at the club, and was part of the squad that famously beat PSG to the Ligue 1 title in 2021 — a title run that made Les Dogues a popular second team for plenty of US fans. Weah, the son of Ballon d'Or winner George Weah, left for Juventus in 2023 after more than 100 appearances for the club. Lille has no American owner — the club is controlled by the Luxembourg-based fund Merlyn Partners — but Ligue 1's broadcast deal with beIN Sports, which runs through the 2028-29 season, keeps Lille's games easy to find on US television, and the club's regular runs in the Champions League and Europa League have only grown its following across the Atlantic.

Rivalries
Main Rivals
Derby du Nord against RC Lens
The Derby du Nord between LOSC Lille and RC Lens is the biggest rivalry in northern French soccer. The two clubs are only about 25 miles apart, but they represent completely different worlds. Lille is the bigger, more cosmopolitan city — the commercial hub of the north. Lens is the working-class mining town, proud of its roots and fiercely protective of its identity. That contrast makes every Derby du Nord feel like so much more than just a soccer game. These two clubs have been battling for the pride of northern France for decades, and it shows every time they share a field.
Paris Saint-Germain
Lille's rivalry with Paris Saint-Germain took on a whole new dimension in 2021 when Christophe Galtier led the club to the Ligue 1 title ahead of the Parisian giants. Nobody saw it coming. For a club from the north to go to Paris and take the title off the richest team in France — it was a massive moment for French soccer. Games between Lille and PSG at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy have produced some of the most intense atmospheres in modern Ligue 1. The record attendance at the stadium — 49,712 — was set against PSG in 2019. Whenever these two sides meet, the whole of France is watching.
Minor Rivalries
Valenciennes
There is also a regional rivalry between Lille and Valenciennes, known as the Petit Derby du Nord. Both clubs are from the Hauts-de-France region, and when they meet — whether in the top flight or lower divisions — local pride is very much at stake. It's not as fierce as the Lens rivalry, but in the north of France any local derby carries a special edge.
