Espérance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne, known to everyone as ESTAC or simply Troyes, was founded in 1986 and took its current name in 2000. The club is based in Troyes, in the Aube and the Champagne region of northeastern France, and plays in blue and white. Since 2020 Troyes have been owned by City Football Group, the network of clubs built around Manchester City, with Mattijs Manders as president.
Back in Ligue 1
Troyes have spent much of their history moving between the top two divisions of French soccer. The club's best-known moment came in 2001, when they won the UEFA Intertoto Cup, beating Newcastle United on away goals to reach the UEFA Cup. After back-to-back relegations, Troyes rebuilt under City Football Group and won the Ligue 2 title to return to the top flight, where they will line up against the biggest clubs in the country once again.
