NEC Nijmegen was founded in 1900 in the city of Nijmegen, making it one of the oldest soccer clubs in the Netherlands. Formed as Eendracht before merging with NVV Nijmegen in 1910 to become N.E.C., the club has spent much of its history alternating between the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie, but has built a loyal following in Nijmegen that has stuck with the club through both good times and difficult ones.

NEC Nijmegen is of course a real Dutch club, rooted firmly in the city of Nijmegen on the banks of the river Waal.
