By Bus

AZ Alkmaar was founded in 1967 as AZ '67, following a merger between Alkmaar '54 and FC Zaanstreek, with the initials AZ standing for "Alkmaar Zaanstreek". The club shortened its name to AZ Alkmaar in the years that followed. Over the decades AZ has built a reputation as one of the best-run clubs outside the Netherlands' traditional "big three", with a well regarded youth academy that has produced a steady stream of talent for the Dutch national team.
