The Stadion Lachen was FC Thun's home for more than 50 years, a lakeside stadium with a field that was famous for all the wrong reasons, until the club moved to this stadium in 2011. It opened as the Arena Thun, spent 12 years as the Stockhorn Arena, and in May 2026, days after the title was won, it was renamed the Visana Stadion under a deal that runs through 2036. It holds 10,000 people, which makes it one of the smallest stadiums in the league and the smallest ever to house a Swiss champion. The mountains of the Bernese Oberland sit behind it. Best way to travel to Visana Stadion

The club advises everyone to take public transportation, and there's a good reason for that beyond the traffic: your game ticket is also a free travel ticket for the Libero zones 700 and 701, valid three hours before and three hours after the game. By Train
Thun sits on the main line between Bern and Interlaken, so InterCity and RegioExpress trains stop here regularly, and the trip from Bern takes under 20 minutes. There's no station at the stadium itself. The stadium is about two and a half kilometers from Thun station, a 15-to-20-minute walk, or you can take the bus.
By Bus
Bus line 3 runs from stand 2 outside Thun station directly to the stop called Arena Thun, right in front of the stadium. It takes about seven minutes and runs every 10 minutes or so, less often in the evening. On game days the club also puts on shuttle buses from the station. All of it is covered by your ticket.
By Car
If you come by car, take the A6 and exit at Thun Süd, which brings you out beside the stadium. Game-day parking is at the Panorama Center nearby and costs around 10 francs, but there aren't many spaces and they go first come, first served. The club is quite direct about preferring you to take the train.
By Bicycle
Cycling to the Visana Stadion is easier than you think. It's a quick, healthy way to make your trip and saves you a lot of money. Thun is a small town, and everything in it is within a few minutes on a bike, including the walk along the Aare from the old center. On a bike you have all the freedom you need — you can get past traffic jams and avoid crowded public transportation.

FC Thun was founded on May 1, 1898 at the Gasthaus zum Sternen in Thun, a town of around 45,000 people on the lake of the same name in the Bernese Oberland. For 128 years the club never won the Swiss championship. Then came 2025-26. Thun had just come up from the Challenge League, they were given no chance by anyone, and they led the table at the winter break and never let go. The title was settled on May 3, 2026 without them even playing: St. Gallen lost 3-0 at home to Sion, and Thun were champions from the couch. They finished on 75 points with 80 goals scored.
American influences
FC Thun's American chapter is a recent one. In 2019 the club took on investment linked to Chien Lee and the Pacific Media Group, the US-based ownership network that at various points also held stakes in clubs like Barnsley in England and Kaiserslautern in Germany. For a few years little Thun was part of a genuinely international, American-led portfolio of clubs. Ownership has since returned to Swiss hands, but that spell tied Thun into one of the multi-club groups reshaping European soccer from the United States.
