Great experience, everything ran smoothly, the only thing that would be nice is getting the tickets a bit earlier than on the day of the game. but it is a minor issue.

It was good, only minor inconvenient was the fee that appeared at the very end, that added like 60 euros to the final prize

Stadium information

Name:

Stadion Letzigrund

Capacity:

26,104

Address:

Badenerstrasse 500, 8048 Zürich, Switzerland

Stadion Letzigrund Zürich

Description:

The Hardturm was Grasshopper's home stadium from 1929 right through to 2007, when the last game there was played against Neuchâtel Xamax and the old ground was torn down the following year. Since then GC have been tenants at the Letzigrund, which they share with their city rivals FC Zürich. It's an athletics stadium with a running track, best known outside soccer for the Weltklasse Zürich meeting it has staged every year since 1928. A new stadium for both clubs is planned back on the Hardturm site, but after years of referendums, appeals and delays there's still no date for it. The Letzigrund holds 26,104 people, and some of those fans can book their Grasshopper tickets through our secure booking system.

Best way to travel to Letzigrund

Once you've booked your Grasshopper tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to the stadium. There's no public parking at the ground, so public transportation is really the only sensible way in. Here are the options you can use to reach the stadium.

By Tram

Tram 2 toward Farbhof stops at Letzigrund, right at the stadium. From Zürich Hauptbahnhof, take tram 3 or 14 three stops to Stauffacher and change to the 2 there. Several other tram lines run through the wider area if you don't mind a short walk at the end. Extra services run on game days.

By Train and Bus

From Zürich Hauptbahnhof, you can also take the S-Bahn one stop to Bahnhof Hardbrücke and walk about 10 minutes. Bahnhof Altstetten is the other option, roughly 20 minutes on foot. Bus line 31 stops at Herdernstrasse, about five minutes from the turnstiles.

By Car

There's no parking at the stadium itself. Coming from Bern or Basel, take the A1, follow signs toward Zürich at the Limmattaler Kreuz and exit at Altstetten; from Winterthur, come through the Gubrist tunnel and take the same exit. The nearest paid garages are at the Letzipark shopping center, Hardau II and the Media Campus, all within a few minutes' walk.

By Bicycle

Cycling to the Letzigrund is easier than you think. It's a quick, healthy way to make your trip and saves you a lot of money. Zürich is one of the best cities in Europe for getting around on two wheels, and the ride out along the Badenerstrasse is flat all the way. On a bike you have all the freedom you need — you can get past traffic jams and avoid crowded public transportation.

Letzigrund guide

The Letzigrund is one of the bigger ones in the Swiss Super League. That's where we come in — we've got you covered with tickets for every single Grasshopper game. One thing to understand before you book: because GC and FC Zürich share this ground, the home and away ends swap depending on who's hosting. These notes are for GC home games.

Sektor IV

Sektor IV is home to Grasshopper's most vocal fans, and the ultras group has taken the name of the sector as its own. This is where the die-hard GC fans sit, and it's where the choreographies come from before the big games. Sektor IV is known for the loudest atmosphere in the stadium when GC are at home. If you want to experience real Swiss soccer, look for Sektor IV tickets. Whenever Grasshopper play toward this end, you'll get the authentic blue-and-white feeling.

Away sector

The visiting fans get the end opposite the GC support. Because the two Zürich clubs swap ends in this ground, always check which sector is the away end for the specific game you're booking. Especially when FC Zürich are the visitors for the derby, you'll feel the tension and rivalry in this part of the stadium. When you book tickets for a Grasshopper away game, this is the type of sector you'll end up in.

Main stand

Along the side of the field you'll find the main stand. This stand offers perfect sightlines across the entire field. For a business-class experience, you can sit in the hospitality area. Here it's a bit more about luxury and a bit less about the soccer atmosphere, but you can be sure you'll have the best view in the stadium. The dugouts are on this side as well, so you can hear the managers shouting and watch the players warm up from up close.

The other side

It's no surprise that this stand sits on the opposite side from the main stand. There are also quite a lot of similarities with it. You get amazing sightlines, but you'll also be surrounded by somewhat quieter fans. Remember that the running track puts a bit of distance between you and the field wherever you sit, so the central seats a few rows up give you the best view of the game.

Which stand should you choose?

It's important to make the best decision when booking your Grasshopper tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of the different areas. Check what matters to you and you'll find the best stand for your needs.

Priority Best Stand Why
Best atmosphere Sektor IV Home of the GC ultras and the choreographies
Best view Main stand, halfway line You look straight across the field
First-time visitor Main stand, higher rows Best angle over the running track
Families with children The side stands Seats, roof and restrooms close by
Budget-conscious Behind the goals The cheapest seats with a good view
Singing & standing Sektor IV Expect to be on your feet
See the players Main stand, lower rows The dugouts and the tunnel are on this side
Premium comfort Main stand hospitality Padded seats and lounge access

Other information

Grasshopper Club Zürich was founded by an Englishman. Tom E. Griffith, a student from England, started the club on September 1, 1886, which is why a Swiss club carries an English name. Nobody agrees entirely on where the Grasshopper part came from, not even the club, though the usual explanation is the jumping, restless way those first players went about the game. Everybody calls them the Hoppers. With 27 championships and 19 cups, GC are the most successful club in Swiss soccer, but the last title came in 2003 and the last cup in 2013, and recent years have been much harder. Last season ended with an eleventh-place finish and a relegation playoff against Aarau, which GC won 2-1 to stay up.

American influences

Grasshopper Club Zürich has had one of the strongest American connections in Swiss soccer. In late 2023 the ownership group behind Los Angeles FC — the MLS side that has become one of the biggest names in American soccer — agreed to take a majority stake in the club, completing the deal the following year. Under that ownership Grasshopper became part of a wider network of clubs, sharing scouting and player pathways between Zürich and Los Angeles, before the American owners stepped away in 2026. For a few seasons, one of Switzerland's most historic clubs was effectively run out of Southern California — a genuine bridge between the Swiss game and MLS.

Rivalries

Main Rivals

The Zürich derby against FC Zürich

The derby against FC Zürich is the only one in Switzerland between two clubs from the same city. The first meeting was on November 28, 1897, when GC won 7-2, and they've played each other more than 250 times since, with Grasshopper still ahead in the head-to-head. It started as a rivalry about class as much as soccer. GC were the club of the students and the well-off, FCZ the club of working Zürich, and that difference has never really gone away. Sharing a stadium since 2007 has done nothing to soften it.

FC Basel

The other big rivalry is with FC Basel, and it comes down to the trophy cabinet. These are the two most decorated clubs in the country, and while GC still hold the record with 27 championships, Basel have been closing that gap fast over the last 20 years. Every meeting carries a bit of that history.

Minor Rivalries

FC St. Gallen

Games against FC St. Gallen have an edge to them that goes beyond the soccer. Eastern Switzerland has never had much time for what it sees as the money and self-importance of Zürich, and GC are the club that stands for that better than any other.

Frequently Asked Questions about Grasshopper tickets

Frequently Asked Questions about Grasshopper tickets

Grasshopper away tickets are a bit harder to find than tickets for home games. That's because there's much more space for home fans than there is for away fans in any Swiss Super League stadium. We've managed to get our hands on Grasshopper soccer tickets for almost every away game. Select the away game you want to attend and then look at the ticket inventory. All our away tickets are labeled. The labels most often used for the Hoppers' away games are: Grasshopper section, Away section, GC fans section and away end. When the section label doesn't match these, the tickets are for the home team.
