Description:
The Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca is the home of FC Alverca, in the town of Alverca do Ribatejo, in the Vila Franca de Xira municipality. It is one of the smallest grounds in the Primeira Liga, with a capacity of around 6,900. The complex is more than just the main field. It also holds a roller hockey pavilion and several training fields for the club's other teams. Ahead of the club's return to the top flight, the ground was upgraded to meet Liga Portugal standards, and the Liga gave it the green light to host Primeira Liga games. It is a tight, compact ground where the fans sit close to the field, so the atmosphere can build quickly on a game day. Some of those supporters can book their FC Alverca tickets through our secure booking system.
Best way to travel to Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca
Once you've booked your FC Alverca tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to the stadium. Alverca do Ribatejo sits around 30 kilometers north of Lisbon, so most visitors travel out from the capital. Here are the options you can use to reach the stadium.
By Train
The train is the easiest way to reach Alverca from Lisbon. Alverca station is on the CP Linha da Azambuja, the suburban line that runs north out of Lisbon along the Tagus from stations like Santa Apolónia and Oriente. Trains run regularly and the trip takes around half an hour. From Alverca station it is a short trip across town to the ground. Follow the fans off the train and you won't get lost.
By Bus
Local and regional buses serve Alverca do Ribatejo and connect the town with Vila Franca de Xira and the surrounding area. The train is the faster option coming from Lisbon, but the buses are handy for getting around the town itself and reaching the stadium from the station.
By Car
Alverca sits right next to the main roads north of Lisbon. The A1 highway and the EN10 run close by, and the A10 links across the Tagus to the south bank. From central Lisbon it is a drive of around 30 minutes when the traffic is light. Parking around the ground is limited because the stadium is small and tucked into the town, so leave yourself plenty of time or take the train.
By Bicycle
Cycling to the Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca is easier than you think. It's a quick, healthy way to make your trip and saves you a lot of money. On a bike you have all the freedom you need — you can get past traffic jams and avoid crowded public transportation.
Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca guide
The Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca is one of the smallest grounds in the Primeira Liga. The 6,900 seats sell out fast for the big games. That's where we come in — we've got you covered with tickets for every single FC Alverca game. To keep things simple we split it into four sections: the South Stand, the North Stand, the East Stand and the West Stand.
South Stand
The South Stand is home to FC Alverca's most vocal fans. This is where the loudest home fans sit. It is the end behind one of the goals. The South Stand is known for the loudest atmosphere in the stadium. If you want to experience real Portuguese soccer, look for South Stand tickets. Whenever Alverca play toward this goal, you'll get that authentic FC Alverca feeling.
North Stand
On the opposite side of the South Stand you'll find the North Stand. This stand is behind the other goal. This is also where the away fans sit, in a corner of the North Stand. So if you're following your team to Alverca, this is the place to look for. Don't forget to select the "away end" or away section when booking. The rest of the North Stand holds home fans. Especially during the big games, you'll feel the tension and rivalry in the North Stand.
East Stand
Along the side of the field you'll find the East Stand. This stand offers good sightlines across the whole field. The stand runs along the full length of the field. You get a clear view of the game from the side. The East Stand is a good pick for your first Alverca game. It's a bit more about the view and a bit less about the noise. But you know for sure you'll see everything.
West Stand
It's no surprise that this stand sits on the opposite side from the East Stand. The West Stand is the main stand. It is located on the side of the dugouts, which gives you a little something extra: you can hear the managers shouting and watch the players warm up from up close. This stand also holds the hospitality seats, so it's a bit more about the comfort and a bit less about the noise. But you know for sure you'll have a great view.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to make the best decision when booking your FC Alverca tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters to you and you'll find the best stand for your needs.

Other information
Futebol Clube de Alverca was founded on September 1, 1939 in Alverca do Ribatejo, in the Vila Franca de Xira municipality north of Lisbon. The club spent most of its history in the lower levels of Portuguese soccer, and for a spell in the late 1990s and early 2000s acted as a feeder club to Benfica. After the old club folded for financial reasons in 2005, Alverca re-formed in 2006 and started again at regional level. Back-to-back promotions in 2024 and 2025 took the club up through Liga 3 and Liga Portugal 2 and back to the top flight. In February 2025, Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior and his partners became co-owners of the club, buying the majority of the shares. Custódio Castro led Alverca through their return to the Primeira Liga and to safety in 11th place, before leaving at the end of the 2025-26 season, with Sérgio Ferreira, the FC Porto under-19 title-winning coach, lined up to take over for the 2026-2027 season.
American influences
FC Alverca is Portuguese-run and there are no United States players in the squad, so the direct American links are limited. The clearest US connection runs through the ownership. Since February 2025 the majority stake has been held by a consortium led by Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior, who is represented by Roc Nation Sports, the US-based agency founded by the rapper Jay-Z. US fans can also watch the club: GOLTV holds the US rights to the Primeira Liga and streams games through services such as Fanatiz and Fubo, so Alverca's games are available in English and Spanish. That access matters most to the Portuguese-American community, which has deep roots in the Northeast and California and follows Liga Portugal closely. American investment in Portuguese clubs has grown in recent years, so the league Alverca has just rejoined is more familiar to US fans than it used to be.
FC Alverca Honors & Trophies
Working their way up the Portuguese soccer league system, FC Alverca now competes in the top tier of the Primeira Liga. FC Alverca also takes part in the Taça de Portugal, the national cup, where the club has had some famous days. Rivalries
Regional Rivalries
Ribatejo and the Lisbon area
FC Alverca does not have one single fierce derby in the way the bigger Portuguese clubs do. As the biggest club in Alverca do Ribatejo, its rivalries are mostly regional, against other sides from the Ribatejo and the wider Lisbon area. These local games matter most to the supporters and carry a bit more edge than the rest of the calendar.
The big clubs
Facing the Big Three
As a smaller club, Alverca's biggest games of the season are the visits of the country's giants. When Benfica, Sporting CP or Porto come to town, the small ground sells out and the atmosphere is at its best. There is extra history with Sporting, after Alverca famously knocked them out of the Taça de Portugal in 2019 while still a third-tier club. These are the games most fans want to see.
