Superb! Easy to purchase a ticket. I had a live customer service chat once, the staff member was so polite, helpful and informative. I loved the communication after purchase. On the match day they contacted me on WhatsApp if I want an upgrade on my tickets for free and after my confirmation I got my tickets within a minute. Great experience, thank you.

This is the best and most trusted website to get your tickets to any world event. I have used them 3 times throughout the years, I have used other sites for football matches and they are so transparent and fast, the first time I used them was in 2018 for a Roma match and then made the mistake to use a different site for the PSG match in April and they were terrible, from the website, customer service and responses. this is the only site I trust and use!

Bought 2 Club Wembley tickets less than 48 hours before the Championship Play Off Final. Good communication and tickets arrived the following day by email. No problems getting into the stadium and seats were great. Unfortunately my team’s performance was the only let down. Would definitely use this company again.

It was easier than I thought to find a group of seven seats together and very simple to book. Communication was excellent, the tickets were sent quickly and were easy to access, so no problems at the stadium. Seats were good and we had a great view. Everything worked well and I'll definitely be back for tickets again - many thanks!

Stadium information

Name:

Estádio da Madeira (Estádio da Choupana)

Capacity:

5,200

Address:

Rua do Estádio do Nacional, Choupana, 9050 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal

Description:

The Estádio da Madeira is the home of CD Nacional. It is better known as the Choupana, after the district where it sits, high in the mountains in the north of Funchal. The ground was built in 1998 and was first named the Estádio Eng. Rui Alves, after the club president Rui Alves. It was renovated in 2007, when a new stand was added and the capacity was raised to around 5,200 seats. The total cost of those works was about €23 million. The stadium name was changed to Estádio da Madeira in mid-2007. The ground has no stands behind the goals, with a tall fence used in their place, so all the seats run along the two sides of the field. Next to the stadium the club built its academy, the Cristiano Ronaldo Câmpus Futebol, named after Nacional's most famous youth product. It is a small ground on a hillside with views over the city and the Atlantic. Some of those fans can book their CD Nacional tickets through our secure booking system.

Best way to travel to Estádio da Madeira

Once you've booked your CD Nacional tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to the stadium. Nacional plays on an island, so most visitors fly in to Madeira first. Here are the options you can use to reach the stadium.

By Plane

Madeira is an island, so almost every visiting fan arrives by air. You fly in to Madeira Airport, also known as Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, in Santa Cruz, about 20 kilometers east of Funchal. From the airport you reach the city by taxi, transfer or the airport bus. Most fans base themselves in Funchal and travel up to the Choupana from there.

By Bus

The Choupana sits in the hills above Funchal, so the stadium is reached by the city's Horários do Funchal buses. Several routes climb up toward the Choupana district from the center of Funchal. The ride is short but steep, as the ground is well above the seafront. Follow the fans up the hill and you won't get lost.

By Car

The stadium is in the Choupana district, north of the center of Funchal, reached by the roads that climb up out of the city. The VR1 expressway runs along the coast and connects Funchal with the airport and the rest of the island. From there you head up into the hills toward the ground. The roads up to the Choupana are narrow and steep, and parking around the stadium is limited, so allow yourself extra time on game day.

By Taxi

A taxi is an easy way to get up to the Choupana, especially if you are staying down in Funchal near the seafront. The climb up the hill is short, and a taxi takes the stress out of the steep, narrow roads. Plenty of fans staying in the city center simply grab a taxi up to the ground.

Estádio da Madeira guide

The Estádio da Madeira is one of the smallest grounds in the Primeira Liga. With around 5,200 seats it fills up fast for the big games. That's where we come in — we've got you covered with tickets for every single CD Nacional game. The seating runs along the two sides of the field, with no stands behind the goals. To keep things simple we split the ground into four sections: the South Stand, the North Stand, the East Stand and the West Stand.

South Stand

The South Stand is home to CD Nacional's most vocal fans. This is where the club's main ultras and the loudest home fans sit. The South Stand is known for the loudest atmosphere in the stadium. If you want to experience real Portuguese soccer, look for South Stand tickets. Whenever Nacional play toward this goal, you'll get that authentic CD Nacional feeling.

North Stand

On the opposite side of the South Stand you'll find the North Stand. This stand is behind the other goal. This is also where the away fans sit, in a corner of the North Stand. So if you're following your team to the Choupana, this is the place to look for. Don't forget to select the "away end" or away section when booking. The rest of the North Stand holds home fans. Especially during the big games, you'll feel the tension and rivalry in the North Stand.

East Stand

Along the side of the field you'll find the East Stand. This stand offers good sightlines across the whole field. The stand runs along the full length of the field. You get a clear view of the game from the side. The East Stand is a good pick for your first Nacional game. It's a bit more about the view and a bit less about the noise. But you know for sure you'll see everything.

West Stand

It's no surprise that this stand sits on the opposite side from the East Stand. The West Stand is the main stand. It is located on the side of the dugouts, which gives you a little something extra: you can hear the managers shouting and watch the players warm up from up close. This stand also holds the hospitality area and the best seats in the house, so it's a bit more about the comfort and a bit less about the noise. But you know for sure you'll have a great view.

Which stand should you choose?

It's important to make the best decision when booking your CD Nacional tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters to you and you'll find the best stand for your needs.

Priority Best Stand Why
Best atmosphere South Stand Lower Home of the most vocal fans, where the singing starts
Best view East/West Upper Central Perfect sightlines, see everything
First-time visitor East or West Stand Balance of atmosphere and views

Other information

Clube Desportivo Nacional was founded on December 8, 1910 in Funchal, on the island of Madeira. The club is best known as Nacional da Madeira and is nicknamed "os Alvinegros", the white-and-blacks, after its black and white striped shirts. Nacional is one of the two big clubs of Madeira, along with Marítimo. It is famous as one of the clubs that helped shape Cristiano Ronaldo as a youth player, and it named its youth training facilities the Cristiano Ronaldo Câmpus Futebol in his honor. Nacional finished 14th in the Primeira Liga in 2025–26 and stayed up. Tiago Margarido left at the end of the season, with João Gião arriving from Sporting B as the new head coach for the 2026-2027 season.

American influences

CD Nacional has no direct American ownership or roster ties: the club's controlling stake was sold in 2025 to the Singapore-based group ACA Football Partners, and the squad is built around Portuguese, Brazilian and other South American players rather than United States internationals. Where the American connection is real is the audience. Madeira has sent large numbers of emigrants to the United States over generations, and the Portuguese-American community in states like New Jersey, Massachusetts and California follows Liga Portugal closely. Those fans can now watch Nacional from home, as GOLTV holds the US rights to the league and carries several games a week through streaming services such as Fanatiz and Fubo. So while Nacional is a Portuguese club through and through, it has a natural following among Madeiran families in the US.

CD Nacional Honors & Trophies

CD Nacional has spent most of its recent history in and around the Primeira Liga. The club has never won the top flight, with a best finish of fourth, but it has a proud Portuguese cup and Segunda Liga record and some famous European nights. Cheap and premium CD Nacional soccer tickets for the Primeira Liga are available to buy now at LiveFootballTickets.com.

Primeira Liga:

Best finish 4th (2003/04 and 2008/09)

Segunda Liga (Liga Portugal 2) wins:

1 (2017/18)

Segunda Divisão – South Zone wins:

1 (1999/2000)

Best European run:

UEFA Europa League group stage (2009/10)

Rivalries

Main Rivals

The Madeira derby against Marítimo

The biggest game for CD Nacional is the Madeira derby against Marítimo, the other big club in Funchal. It is the game that splits the island. Both clubs come from the same city, and bragging rights for the whole of Madeira are on the line. Historically Marítimo was the bigger club and dominated the early meetings, being the first of the two to reach European competition. Over the years Nacional has closed that gap, and the derby remains the game every fan on the island circles first.

The big clubs from the mainland

Porto, Benfica and Sporting CP

Like every smaller club in the league, Nacional measures itself against the "Big Three" from the mainland. A trip to the Choupana by Porto, Benfica or Sporting CP is one of the highlights of the season for the island. Nacional has a proud record of upsets at home, including famous wins over Benfica in the 2000s, so these are the games where the small ground feels at its loudest.

Frequently Asked Questions about CD Nacional tickets

Frequently Asked Questions about CD Nacional tickets

CD Nacional away tickets are a bit harder to find than tickets for home games. That's because there's much more space for home fans in each stadium than there is for away fans in any Primeira Liga stadium. We've managed to get our hands on CD Nacional soccer tickets for almost every Primeira Liga game. Select the away game you want to attend and then look at the ticket inventory. All our away tickets are labeled. The labels most often used for the Alvinegros' away games are: CD Nacional section, Away section, Nacional fans section and away end. When the section label doesn't match these, the tickets are for the home team.
