Not only is the ground a listed historic monument, its striking tensioned-membrane roof added during the 2000-2004 rebuild covers roughly 42,000 square metres and weighs around 3,500 tonnes, resting above the old stonework without ever touching it. The pitch is lit by a modern LED system of some 10,500 individual luminaires at 2,300 lux, and the ground’s East Curve, Marathon Gate and Ehrentribüne all include dedicated wheelchair spaces, with accessible parking available in lots PO4 and PO5. You will feel nearly a century of history the moment you take seat, whichever tier you’re sat in.

Bus lines M49 and 218 stop at Flatowallee, right by the ground, while line 143 connects to Neu-Westend U-Bahn station a short walk from the stadium.

Club history
Hertha BSC was founded on 25 July 1892 as BFC Hertha 92, taking on its familiar “BSC” identity in 1923 when the club merged with Berliner Sport-Club, and the golden years that followed brought back-to-back German championships in 1930 and 1931. European nights arrived decades later too, including a run to the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 1978-79 and regular continental qualification around the turn of the millennium. Hertha has moved between the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga several times since, most recently relegated after the 2022-23 season, and the club has played its football in the 2. Bundesliga ever since, finishing 7th in 2025-26.
Hertha BSC opened the 2026-27 season in emphatic form. Stefan Leitl, in charge since February 2025, has overseen an unbeaten start built on four straight wins, with captain Josip Brekalo scoring in the 2-1 home victory over 1. FC Magdeburg on 6 September 2026 that took Hertha to the top of the 2. Bundesliga table. Brekalo took over the captaincy in August 2026 from the departing Fabian Reese, supported by vice-captains Michael Gechter and Paul Seguin.
