Stadium information
Name:
Stade de la Meinau
Capacity:
32,300
Address:
12 rue de l'Extenwoerth, 67100 Strasbourg, France
Description:
La Meinau, as everyone calls it, has been Strasbourg's home since 1914, tucked into the Meinau district a short way south of the old city center. For most of its life it was a raw block of concrete, low and loud, and plenty of history has passed through it: a 1938 World Cup game, two Euro 1984 games, the 1988 European Cup Winners' Cup final. It looks rather different now. A big redevelopment has just reshaped the stadium, headed by a huge new south stand, and capacity has climbed to roughly 32,300. The good news for visitors is that all the modern comforts have arrived without softening the noise. Some of those fans can book their RC Strasbourg tickets through our secure booking system.
Best way to travel to Stade de la Meinau
Once you've booked your RC Strasbourg tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to the stadium. Strasbourg has an excellent tram network and the stadium is easy to reach from the center, so most fans arrive by tram or train. Here are the options you can use to reach the stadium.
By Tram
The tram is the easiest way to reach the stadium. Lines A and E both stop at "Krimmeri Stade de la Meinau", which is right next to the stadium. From the city center or the main station the trip takes about fifteen minutes, and trams are frequent, so you won't have to wait long on game days. The stop is only a couple of minutes' walk from the turnstiles.
By Train
Strasbourg Krimmeri Meinau station is only a few hundred yards from the stadium and is served by regional trains. You can travel there directly from Strasbourg's main train station in a few minutes. From the station it's a short walk to the stadium.
By Car
Driving is less convenient on game days. Parking next to the stadium is very limited and the surrounding streets are busy. The club advises fans to use one of the park-and-ride sites on the edge of the city and take the tram to the stadium from there.
By Bicycle
Cycling to the Stade de la Meinau is easier than you think. Strasbourg is a very bike-friendly city with a large network of bike lanes. You avoid the game-day traffic and the busy trams, and there is secure bike parking near the stadium.
Stade de la Meinau guide
The Stade de la Meinau is made up of four stands wrapped tightly around the field: the Tribune Ouest, the Tribune Est, the Tribune Nord and the Tribune Sud. The compact bowl keeps the noise in and the fans close to the action, and the recent redevelopment has only added to the spectacle. That's where we come in — we've got you covered with tickets for every single Le Racing game.
Tribune Ouest
The Tribune Ouest is the main stand, on the west side of the stadium. It holds the dugouts and the best facilities, and it's also the stand where the club's most loyal supporters have always gathered. These fans famously kept filling it even when Strasbourg dropped down into the amateur leagues. It's the best choice for comfort, a clear view across the field and a sense of the club's history.
Tribune Sud
The Tribune Sud is the large new south stand built during the redevelopment, with room for several thousand fans. It has become one of the loudest parts of the stadium and is home to Strasbourg's most vocal fans. If you want to experience real French soccer, look for Tribune Sud tickets.
Tribune Nord
The Tribune Nord is behind the other goal and is another home end full of vocal fans. Along with the Tribune Sud it gives the stadium a strong atmosphere behind both goals, and it's a good option for fans who want to sit behind the goal with the home crowd.
Tribune Est
The Tribune Est runs along the opposite side of the field from the main stand. It gives good views along the length of the field and is usually a little quieter and cheaper than the Tribune Ouest, which makes it a good choice for fans who want a clear view without paying for the premium areas. Away supporters are also given their own section of the stadium.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to make the best decision when booking your RC Strasbourg tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters to you and you'll find the best stand for your needs.
| Priority | Best Stand | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | Tribune Sud | The big new home end where the songs come from |
| Best view | Tribune Ouest or Tribune Est | Side-on views along the length of the field |
| First-time visitor | Tribune Ouest | Great views, the best facilities and a sense of history |
| Families with children | Tribune Est | Calmer seating with clear sightlines |
| Budget-conscious | Tribune Est or Tribune Nord | Good value with solid views |
| Singing & standing | Tribune Sud or Tribune Nord | Expect to be on your feet |
| Premium comfort | Tribune Ouest | Hospitality areas and the best facilities |

Other information
Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace, known to all as Le Racing, was founded in 1906 by a group of young men in the Neudorf district, at a time when Strasbourg was still part of the German Empire. The club plays in blue, and its famous crest brings together the red sash of the city's coat of arms, the Alsace stork and the spire of Strasbourg's great cathedral. Le Racing crowned a glorious era by winning the French league title in 1979, and the club is one of only a handful in the country to have won all three major domestic trophies. After going into liquidation in 2011 and dropping all the way to the fifth tier, Strasbourg rebuilt themselves on the back of huge crowds and climbed back to Ligue 1 by 2017. The club is now owned by the BlueCo group, with Marc Keller as president.
A strong recent season
RC Strasbourg are an exciting watch right now. Last season Le Racing reached the semifinals of both the Coupe de France and the UEFA Conference League, with young Argentine striker Joaquín Panichelli leading the line and finishing as the club's top scorer. With a bright, attacking squad and that famous Meinau atmosphere behind them, a game day in Strasbourg is one of the best experiences in Ligue 1.
American influences
Strasbourg's owner is American. Since 2023 the club has belonged to BlueCo, the consortium led by US investor Todd Boehly and the California-based private equity firm Clearlake Capital — the same group that owns Chelsea. The link between the two clubs has shaped Strasbourg's recruitment, with young players moving between London and the Meinau, and it has put Le Racing on the radar of plenty of American fans who follow the Premier League. No US international has been a Meinau regular yet, but with Ligue 1 broadcast on beIN Sports in the United States through the 2028-29 season, it has never been easier to keep up with the club from across the Atlantic.

Rivalries
Main Rivals
Derby de l'Est against FC Metz
The standout game of the season for Le Racing is the Derby de l'Est against FC Metz. It pits the two great clubs of eastern France against one another, a rivalry rooted in decades of regional pride, and the meetings are always fiercely contested both on the field and in the stands. Whenever Metz come to the Meinau, you can expect a sellout and an electric atmosphere.
Minor Rivalries
AS Nancy
Strasbourg also share an eastern French rivalry with AS Nancy, another meeting that is often described as a Derby de l'Est. The two clubs have spent long spells in different divisions in recent years, but regional pride means there's always an edge whenever they face off.
PSG
Some of the biggest occasions of the season come when the giants visit the Meinau. Games against PSG, along with the visit of Marseille, are among the most in-demand games of the campaign, with the home crowd desperate to upset the odds against the best teams in the country.
