The Hawthorns stadium guide
The Hawthorns is one of the most traditional and atmospheric grounds in English soccer. The stadium is divided into four stands: the East Stand, the West Stand, the Birmingham Road End and the Smethwick End. Whichever league West Bromwich Albion are playing in, we've got you covered with tickets for every Baggies game.
East Stand
The East Stand is the largest and most modern stand at The Hawthorns, having replaced the old Rainbow Stand in 2001. This two-tiered stand runs the full length of the field and houses the ticket office, club shop, administration offices, VIP seating and the club's hospitality areas. It offers some of the best views in the stadium across the entire field, so if you want comfort and a great vantage point, this is the place to look.
Birmingham Road End
Opposite the East Stand you'll find the Birmingham Road End, known to supporters as the Brummie Road, home to many of West Brom's most loyal and vocal supporters. This stand is where you'll find the club's most passionate fans in full voice and is one of the most atmospheric parts of the stadium on a game day. A large effigy of a throstle – the club's famous mascot bird – stands on top of the stand. The Birmingham Road End is at the heart of The Hawthorns experience.
West Stand
Along the west side of the field sits the West Stand, which runs the full length of the playing surface. This stand is a traditional part of The Hawthorns and offers excellent unobstructed views of the action. Like all four stands at The Hawthorns, there is not a single pillar to obstruct your view, making every seat in the house a good one.
Smethwick End
Behind one of the goals sits the Smethwick End, which is where away supporters are housed for West Brom home games. If you're following your team to The Hawthorns, this is the section to look for – remember to select the "away end" or away section when booking. It's also one of the noisiest parts of the stadium on a big game day.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your West Brom tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what's important to you and you will find the best stand for your wishes.
| Priority | Best Stand | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | Birmingham Road End | Home of the loudest, most loyal Baggies fans |

Rivalries
Main Rivals
West Midlands Derby against Birmingham City
The fiercest rivalry West Bromwich Albion have is with Birmingham City, with the game between the two known as the West Midlands Derby. The rivalry comes from the fact that both clubs share the West Midlands and have competed for local supremacy for well over a century. Even when the two clubs aren't in the same division, the derby remains one of the most passionately contested fixtures in English soccer, and fans of both teams can't wait for it to return.
Minor Rivals
Aston Villa
The rivalry with Aston Villa is a strong regional one rooted in close geography and long-running competition across the West Midlands. The two clubs don't meet as often as they once did, as they have frequently found themselves in different divisions, and fixtures between sides in different leagues tend to keep rivalries a little less heated. Even so, a meeting between West Brom and Aston Villa always carries a bit of extra edge.
