Stadium information
Name:
PreZero Arena
Capacity:
30,150
Address:
Dietmar-Hopp-Allee 1, 74889 Sinsheim, Germany
Description:
The PreZero Arena opened on 10 July 2009 with a friendly against Borussia Dortmund. It was built specifically for TSG Hoffenheim and is located not in the village of Hoffenheim itself, but in the nearby town of Sinsheim. The club had to find a new location because the old ground in Hoffenheim had simply no capacity to grow. With 30.150 seats the PreZero Arena was from the moment of its opening one of the most modern stadiums in Germany. Not only is the design very compact and steep, also the retractable roof is something you don’t find in many Bundesliga stadiums. This roof means the stadium can be used in all weather conditions and it keeps the noise very well inside the ground. When you visit the PreZero Arena for the first time, you will feel immediately how enclosed and intense the atmosphere is compared to many other Bundesliga grounds.
Best way to travel to PreZero Arena
When you’ve booked your TSG Hoffenheim tickets it’s time to find out how you can get to the stadium. The PreZero Arena is located in Sinsheim, a town in the Kraichgau region that is reachable by train from Heidelberg, Heilbronn and several other cities. The club advises everybody to use public transport on matchdays. These are the options you have to get to the PreZero Arena.
By Train
The most convenient way to reach the PreZero Arena is by train. Take the S5 S-Bahn line from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof in direction of Mosbach-Neckarelz and get off at Sinsheim (Elsenz). The journey takes around 35 minutes from Heidelberg. From Heilbronn you can also take the S5 in the other direction and reach Sinsheim in a similar time. The station is not directly next to the stadium, but from there it is a 15-minute walk to the PreZero Arena. On matchdays you will find a lot of other Hoffenheim fans making the same walk from the moment the train arrives. Also the matchday shuttle bus runs from the station to the ground if you prefer not to walk.
By Matchday Shuttle
TSG Hoffenheim operates special shuttle services on every home matchday. Not only from Sinsheim station but also from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof directly to the PreZero Arena. Also this is a very popular option for fans coming from Mannheim or Karlsruhe, who can travel to Heidelberg first and then pick up the shuttle from there. The shuttle service is affordable and takes away all the guesswork about the last part of the journey. Before you travel, check the TSG Hoffenheim website for the shuttle times. These can change per match depending on the kick-off.
By Bus
When you are already staying in Sinsheim, local bus is a good option to reach the PreZero Arena from the town centre. On matchdays there are extra buses running from the station and from several points within Sinsheim. The journey takes only a few minutes. You will find the bus stops clearly signposted on matchdays, also the drivers are used to football supporters so you don’t have to worry about missing your stop. Not only is this a practical option going to the stadium, also on the return journey after the match it is very useful when the taxis are all busy.
By Bicycle
The Kraichgau region has good cycling paths and from several towns around Sinsheim you can reach the PreZero Arena by bicycle without any problems. On the bicycle you’ve got all the freedom you need. You don’t have to wait for any bus or train after the match and you avoid all the traffic jams that build up around the stadium. Bicycle parking you will find directly outside the ground. Also from Sinsheim town centre it is really only a short ride to the PreZero Arena and the paths are easy to follow even when you are there for the first time.
PreZero Arena guide
The PreZero Arena has four stands and a retractable roof that keeps the noise very well inside the stadium. The 30.150 seats are spread between the Nordkurve, the Südkurve, the Haupttribüne and the Gegengerade.
Nordkurve (North Stand)
The Nordkurve is where you will find the most passionate TSG Hoffenheim supporters. The ultras and the most active home fans take seat in the lower standing section, where the atmosphere is more intense than anywhere else in the whole PreZero Arena. The retractable roof keeps all the noise from the Nordkurve inside the PreZero Arena and sends it across to the other stands very quickly. When Hoffenheim score a goal, you will feel the Nordkurve take the entire stadium with them in a way that is quite difficult to experience in a more open-air ground. Also this stand is where the singing starts at the beginning of every match. If you want to experience the real TSG Hoffenheim, you need to take seat in the Nordkurve.
Südkurve (South Stand)
On the opposite site of the Nordkurve, you will find the Südkurve. Also this stand has home supporters in the lower sections, with the away fans placed in the upper tier in a clearly separated block. The retractable roof benefits the Südkurve very much on cold or wet matchdays, because the noise stays inside and the temperature under the roof is noticeably warmer than in open stadiums. During the bigger Bundesliga fixtures, you will feel the enclosed atmosphere of the PreZero Arena from the Südkurve in a way that is quite different to almost any other ground in Germany. The Südkurve is slightly more affordable than the side stands and you will get a very good view of the whole pitch from here.
Haupttribüne (Main Stand / West)
Along the west side of the pitch you will find the Haupttribüne. This is the main stand of the PreZero Arena with the press area, the VIP sections and the corporate hospitality facilities. For the premium matchday experience you can take seat in the business class sections in the middle tier of the Haupttribüne. In the Haupttribüne you will have the best possible view along the full length of the pitch and the closest position to the dugouts. It is a bit more about the comfort here, but you will still feel the full intensity of the matchday atmosphere from this stand, because the roof keeps everything locked inside the stadium.
Gegengerade (East Stand)
On the opposite site of the Haupttribüne, you will find the Gegengerade. Also this stand gives you very good sightlines along the full length of the pitch. It is slightly more affordable than the Haupttribüne and a very popular choice for regular supporters who want a reliable and clear view at a fair price. From the Gegengerade you will have a very good overview of the whole PreZero Arena. Both the Nordkurve and the Südkurve are clearly visible from here across the pitch. Also this stand is a very good first choice for people who come to Sinsheim for the first time and want to take in the full picture of the stadium.
Which stand should you choose?
It’s important to make the best decision when booking your TSG Hoffenheim tickets. That’s why we made this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what is important for you and you will find the best stand for what you are looking for.
| Priority | Best Stand | Why |

| Best atmosphere | Nordkurve Lower | Standing section, ultras, roof keeps the noise inside |

Club history
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim was founded on 1 July 1899 in the village of Hoffenheim, a place with around 3,000 people today. Hoffenheim is the smallest hometown of any club that has ever played in the Bundesliga, and for the supporters this is something they are very proud of. For the most part of the club’s history they were playing in the lower divisions of German football and had really no ambitions beyond the local level. This changed in the 1990s when Dietmar Hopp, a billionaire who co-founded the software company SAP and who grew up as a child in Hoffenheim, began investing seriously in the club. In 2007, TSG Hoffenheim won the title in the 2. Bundesliga and came to the top flight for the first time ever. In the autumn of 2008, only their second season in the Bundesliga, the club went to the top of the entire German top flight under coach Ralf Rangnick and stayed there for several weeks. Not only did everyone in German football suddenly know who TSG Hoffenheim were, also the players from that squad still talk about those weeks as the most special of their whole career. The club finished 7th in the end, but it was already clear to the whole of Germany that something very special was happening in Sinsheim. The PreZero Arena opened the year after and gave Hoffenheim a home that was fitting for a Bundesliga club. On 24 July 2018 came the biggest moment in the club’s history up to that point, when TSG Hoffenheim played in the Champions League play-off round for the first time ever. They lost to Shakhtar Donetsk and dropped into the Europa League group stage, but in a village of 3,000 people there was nobody who had ever expected to see Champions League football. Christian Ilzer took over as head coach in November 2024 and guided the club through a very tough second half of the 2024-25 season, keeping Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga with a 15th place finish.
German influences
TSG Hoffenheim has always had a strong German character despite the unusual financial model behind the club. Not only does the academy in Hoffenheim produce players for the first team itself, also several graduates from the youth system have gone on to play for the German national team. Niklas Süle, who became one of the best central defenders in Germany, came through the Hoffenheim youth. Also David Raum, the Germany international left back, went through the same academy at the club. The connection between TSG Hoffenheim and the Kraichgau region gives the club a local identity that goes well beyond the money that has been invested. Andrej Kramarić is the all-time top scorer for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and has been the most important player for the club for many years already. His work rate and goal numbers are something that every Hoffenheim supporter knows by heart.

Rivalries
Main Rivals
Baden-Württemberg Derby against VfB Stuttgart
The derby between TSG Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart is the most important regional rivalry for Hoffenheim supporters. Both clubs come from the state of Baden-Württemberg and the fixture carries strong local pride on both sides. Stuttgart fans see themselves as the bigger and more traditional club, while Hoffenheim supporters are very proud of how far their club has come in such a short period of time. Whenever the two clubs meet in the Bundesliga, you will find a very motivated atmosphere at the PreZero Arena and the result always matters a great deal to both sets of supporters.
Minor Rivalries
Rivalry with SC Freiburg
The rivalry with SC Freiburg is also worth mentioning. Both clubs come from Baden-Württemberg and have been regular Bundesliga sides for many years. Not only do Freiburg and Hoffenheim compete directly on the pitch, also the two fan bases have a very different view of what German football should look like. Freiburg are seen as the community-built club with a democratic model, while Hoffenheim are associated with the backing of a single wealthy individual. This ideological difference gives the fixture an extra edge on top of the sporting competition.
Rivalry with 1. FC Kaiserslautern
The rivalry with Kaiserslautern has its roots in the southwest German football tradition and the lower division encounters between the two clubs in earlier decades. Although Kaiserslautern have spent significant time outside the Bundesliga in recent years, older Hoffenheim supporters remember the competitive fixtures from the lower divisions very clearly. Whenever the two clubs are drawn together in any competition, you will always find extra motivation on the Hoffenheim side.
