Best way to travel to Allianz Arena
When you’ve booked your Bayern München tickets it’s time to find out how you can get to the stadium. The club advises everybody to take public transport. These are the options you can use to get to the Allianz Arena.
By U-Bahn
The U6 is the fastest and most convenient option to get to the Allianz Arena. Take the U6 to the last stop Fröttmaning. From there it’s a 15-minute walk to the stadium. You can take the U6 from Marienplatz in the city centre, going north in the direction of Garching-Hochbrück. The walk from the station is well-signposted and thousands of fans do it every matchday, so you won’t get lost. After the match, expect to wait for a train or two before you get on — it fills up fast.
By S-Bahn
The S-Bahn connects to the U6 at Marienplatz. From Munich Central Station, take any S-Bahn heading into the city centre and transfer to the U6 at Marienplatz. The total journey from the main station to the Allianz Arena is around 25 to 30 minutes. A convenient and quick way to reach the stadium.
By Bus
Bus is also a good option with lines 140, 181 and 292 passing near the Allianz Arena. On matchdays there are extra services running and high frequency services will take you within a short walk of the ground. For smaller parts of the city that are not well connected to the U-Bahn, the bus is the best option.
By Bicycle
Cycling to the Allianz Arena is easier than you think. Munich is a very bike-friendly city with dedicated cycle paths throughout the north of the city. It is a quick and healthy way to make your journey and saves you a lot of money. On the bicycle you’ve got all the freedom you need. You can surpass traffic jams and avoid crowded public transport.
Allianz Arena guide
The Allianz Arena is one of the bigger ones in the German Bundesliga. The 75,024 seats are almost always sold out. That’s where we come in, we’ve got you covered with tickets for every single Bayern München match. The stadium is divided in four stands, the Südkurve, the Nordkurve, the East Stand and the West Stand.
Südkurve (South Stand)
The Südkurve is home of Bayern München’s most vocal supporters. The lower section of the Südkurve is a standing area with 9,336 places, where the Schickeria ultras are based. The Südkurve is where Bayern München celebrated loads of successes over the years. This is the place where the die-hard Bayern fans take seat. The Südkurve is known for the loudest atmosphere in the Allianz Arena. When you want to experience the real German football, you need to look for Südkurve tickets. The stand is located behind one of the goals. Whenever Bayern play towards this goal, you will get the authentic Bayern feeling.
Nordkurve (North Stand)
On the opposite side of the Südkurve, you will find the Nordkurve. Also this stand has a strong home supporter following, with standing areas in the corner blocks. Away fans are not housed in the Nordkurve — they are seated in the upper tier of the East Stand. Especially during Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund, you will feel the tension and rivalry all around the Nordkurve.
East Stand
Along the side of the pitch you will find the East Stand. This stand offers the perfect sightlines across the entire pitch. For the business class experience you can take seat in the prestigious middle tier. In the East Stand it’s a bit more about the luxury and a bit less about the football atmosphere. But you know for sure you will have the best view in the stadium. Away fans are placed in the upper tier of the East Stand, blocks 340 to 347.
West Stand
It won’t be any surprise that this stand is on the opposite side of the East Stand. There are also quite a lot of similarities with the East Stand. You’ve got amazing sightlines, but will also be surrounded by a bit more quieter fans. The West Stand is located on the side of the dugouts, which gives you a little bit extra. You can hear the managers shouting and see the players warming-up from up close.
Which stand should you choose?
It’s important to be able to make the best decision when booking your Bayern München tickets. That’s why we’ve created this table with a quick comparison about all four stands. Check what’s important to you and you will find the best stand for your wishes.

Club history
Bayern München was originally a local sports club. Eleven footballers who broke away from the MTV Munich gymnastics club decided to form a football team on 27 February 1900. They chose red and white as their colours right from the very start. They manufactured a reputation over the following decades, which explains why they are often referred to as “FC Bayern” and why the club is known as the “Rekordmeister” — the record champions of German football.
German influences
Bayern München is of course a real German club, but what are the actual German influences at the moment? On the managerial front the club has had foreign managers for several years. Vincent Kompany is Belgian, and before him came Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann. On the pitch things are very different. With Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich, two of the most important players are German. Kimmich is already one of the best midfielders in European football. Jamal Musiala looks to be the next German superstar who is working himself into the very best players in the world. With Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof there are more German talents who can become very important for Bayern München.

Rivalries
Main Rivals
Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund
Der Klassiker between Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund is one of the biggest matches in the world of football. The rivalry really took off during the 1990s when Dortmund started winning Bundesliga titles and challenging Bayern’s dominance. It reached its peak in the Klopp era, when Dortmund won the Bundesliga in 2011 and 2012 and both clubs met in the 2013 Champions League final at Wembley. Bayern won that final 2–1. Bayern lead the all-time head-to-head with 67 wins from 136 meetings. When these two clubs meet, the whole of German football watches.
Minor Rivalries
TSV 1860 München
The original Munich city derby. TSV 1860 and Bayern München both played at the Olympiastadion for many years, and there was a period in the mid-1990s when both clubs competed in the Bundesliga at the same time. 1860 have spent most of the last two decades in the lower divisions of German football. But the rivalry has not disappeared, particularly among older Munich supporters. In many parts of the city you will still find 1860 fans with no love at all for their more successful neighbours.
Bayer Leverkusen
The rivalry with Bayer Leverkusen has grown a lot in recent years. Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga season in 2023–24 was a direct challenge to Bayern’s dominance, and the edge in this fixture has been noticeably sharper since then. It is not a geographical derby, but in terms of the title race it has become one of the most important Bundesliga fixtures of recent years.
