Match Details
Brighton vs. Crystal Palace takes place on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at the American Express Stadium. The kickoff time and UK broadcast details for this game are still to be confirmed by the Premier League.
American Express Stadium
The American Express Stadium, commonly known as the Amex Stadium, has been Brighton's home since 2011, when the club moved in after years of sharing a stadium and campaigning for a permanent home. Having made the upgrade, Brighton's stadium currently has a capacity of 31,876 and is well known for its curved roof design. If you're traveling to the stadium, it's really easy to get to via public transportation. Falmer train station is right next to the stadium, meaning you can get direct train service from both Brighton and Lewes. But if you'd prefer to avoid taking the train, there are also plenty of bus services that can take you to the stadium.
Head-to-Head Record
This is without doubt one of the most fiercely contested local rivalries in English soccer. Known to many soccer fans as the M23 derby, there have been 145 meetings between the two sides since 1920. Of those 145 meetings, Crystal Palace has won 52 times compared to Brighton's 51, while there have been 42 draws. Palace also won the most recent meeting between the sides in February, ending a really poor run of form midway through last season. This season, however, both clubs head into the matchup full of confidence after strong finishes to last season.
Last Meeting: Brighton 0-1 Crystal Palace (February 8, 2026)
Crystal Palace scraped a 1-0 win over Brighton at Amex Stadium last time out. Ismaila Sarr scored the only goal of the game, in which both sides struggled to trouble the opposing goalkeepers. Hürzeler's side was booed off the field at halftime after a really poor run of form. This win proved to be a turning point for Oliver Glasner's side, however, which used the momentum to go on and win the UEFA Conference League at the end of the campaign. With both sides starting the season with mixed results, it could be a real opportunity for either team to lay down a marker and build momentum for the rest of the season. Pierre Sage will be desperate for his first win as Palace coach, while it seems Hürzeler still has a point to prove to the Brighton fans who called for him to be sacked last season.
Brighton 2026-2027 Season
Brighton heads into the 2026-2027 campaign with Fabian Hürzeler once again leading the club. It finished 8th last season and qualified for the Conference League, which for a club of Brighton's stature is a fantastic achievement. Continuing its reputation as a selling club, Brighton had some of its best players picked from its roster in the summer transfer window, with Jan Paul van Hecke heading to Spurs, Carlos Baleba moving to Manchester United and Danny Welbeck joining Chelsea. However, to counteract this, Hürzeler has also spent big, bringing in Luka Vušković and Zadok Yohanna to freshen up the roster. Despite its positive transfer window, Brighton has started the campaign with mixed results. It beat Aston Villa comfortably on the opening day before losing 4-3 to Chelsea in its second game. That said, Brighton tended to struggle for goals last season, but having scored seven in two games already this campaign, it looks as if it has put its attacking struggles behind it.
Crystal Palace 2026-2027 Season
Crystal Palace is entering a new era after Oliver Glasner's incredible spell in charge came to a fairytale end at the end of last season, with the Austrian leading the Eagles to their first-ever European trophy in the Conference League. Pierre Sage has been appointed as his successor and he has been busy in the transfer market already, bringing in the likes of Dwight McNeil, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oscar Mingueza and Evann Guessand, while losing key man Daniel Muñoz. Despite looking like he wanted to leave this summer, Palace has also managed to retain Jean-Philippe Mateta, while also warding off any interest in midfield maestro Adam Wharton. American fans will also have two players to keep an eye on in the Palace ranks. Center back Chris Richards has been a mainstay in defense, playing every minute of Palace's opening five league games, while Zavier Gozo joined from Real Salt Lake in the summer and has made one Premier League appearance so far this season. After last season, expectations have never been higher for Palace, and it's up to Sage to prove he can keep the ball rolling after Glasner's success. This may be easier said than done, however, as Glasner was a hugely popular figure at Palace and Sage has big shoes to fill. But with expectations at an all-time high and a roster with plenty of new players, it could be a tough campaign for Palace.
