The 1996 victory was part of the unforgettable Doblete season under coach Radomir Antić, when Atlético beat their rivals to win both La Liga and the Copa del Rey – a feat celebrated to this day by every Atleti fan.
Their most recent title in 2013 stands as one of the great Copa del Rey finals of the modern era. Cristiano Ronaldo put Real Madrid ahead at the Bernabéu, but Atlético responded with goals from Diego Costa and a dramatic extra-time winner from João Miranda to claim the trophy in front of their rivals' own supporters. It was the perfect symbol of what makes Atlético special: defiant, resilient, and never beaten until the final whistle.
