How the Women's Super League works
The WSL is the top division of the English women's game and is contested by fourteen clubs, each playing every other side home and away. The champions are decided on league position, with the leading clubs earning places in European competition. At the other end, the bottom club is relegated automatically to WSL 2, while the club finishing thirteenth enters a play-off against a side from the division below for its place in the top flight.
