Stadium information
Name:
Allianz Field
Capacity:
19,400
Address:
400 Snelling Avenue North, Saint Paul, MN 55104, USA
Description:
Minnesota United played their first two MLS seasons at the University of Minnesota's American football stadium, until they opened Allianz Field in 2019, in Saint Paul's Midway neighbourhood. It's one of the league's most admired stadiums for its exterior facade, made up of a PTFE mesh that lights up and changes colour to the rhythm of the match, and its enveloping roof that channels the noise back down onto the pitch. With almost twenty thousand seats and stands set very close to the pitch, the atmosphere is intense even in the coldest months at the start of the season.
The best way to get to Allianz Field
Once you have your tickets for a Minnesota match, you'll need to work out how to get to the stadium. Here are a few options to help you find the one that suits you best.
By metro / light rail
Metro Transit's Green Line connects downtown Saint Paul and Minneapolis, the Twin Cities, directly with Snelling Avenue station, which is located right opposite the stadium, making it the most recommended option.
By bus
Several city bus routes run along Snelling Avenue, reaching the stadium. There are also various other urban routes connecting the rest of the metropolitan area with the venue.
By bike
The Twin Cities have one of the best bike networks in the country, so there are bike lanes reaching the stadium from both city centres, making this a very practical option too.
Allianz Field guide
Allianz Field is designed so that none of its 19,600 seats are far from the pitch, with steep stands and a roof that wraps around the whole venue and concentrates the noise. That's where we come in, as we have tickets for every Minnesota match. The stadium is divided into four areas: the East and West Stands and the North and South Ends.
West Stand
Being the stand located behind the benches, it can be said to be the stadium's main stand. This section houses the club area and the suites, in other words, the venue's premium areas. Both the pitch-level section and the upper tier have exclusive spaces for those wanting a more complete experience. Either way, all the seats in this section offer great visibility of the pitch, giving it the best perspective and the most comfortable seats.
East Stand
Being the other side stand, it offers the same excellent visibility of the whole pitch but with more affordable tickets. On this side there's only one club area at pitch level, so the rest of the tickets don't reach the prices of the west side, making it the most recommended choice for those visiting Allianz Field for the first time, allowing them to follow the whole match and stay involved in the great atmosphere.
South End
Also known as The Wonderwall, this is the stand where the club's supporters' groups are based, considered one of the most spirited in the league, making it the loudest section of the stadium, as well as the cheapest, since there are no assigned seats.
North End
This is the opposite end, with a much calmer, more family-friendly atmosphere, and with more affordable tickets than the side stands. However, in day matches the sun tends to shine directly on it.
Which area should you choose?
To help you make the best decision when booking your Minnesota tickets, we've put together this short table comparing the areas based on the preferences you might have, so you can choose the area that best suits what you're looking for and enjoy your experience to the fullest.
| Priority | Best area | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | South End | This is the standing stand where the supporters' group is based, making it the loudest area |
| Best visibility | Side stands | As in any stadium, the side stands offer a better view of the whole pitch |
| First-time visit | East Stand | This is the section with the best balance of price, atmosphere and visibility |
| Families with children | East Stand / North End | Offers a more relaxed atmosphere and excellent visibility. For matches played at night, the North End is also a good option, as there's no sun |
| Tight budget | South End | This is the cheapest area. If you'd prefer to avoid the supporters' group stand, you can look in the corners, the upper tier of the East Stand or the North End |
| See the players up close | West Stand | This side houses the benches and warm-up area |
| Maximum comfort and exclusivity | West Stand | This section houses the premium areas, with the stadium's best amenities |

Other information
After competing for many years in the lower divisions, Minnesota United made the jump to MLS in 2017. The loon, the bird that is Minnesota's symbol and appears on its crest, gives the team its nickname, the Loons, and its grey and blue colours evoke the region's winters and waters.
After a couple of seasons playing in a borrowed stadium, the club opened Allianz Field in 2019, which sent attendances soaring and completely transformed the project, allowing it to establish itself as a playoff regular and even reach a conference final.
Minnesota United honours
Minnesota doesn't yet have any MLS titles, although their earlier history in the lower divisions does include several championships, including the 2011 NASL title. At the top level, they've established themselves as MLS Cup playoff regulars and play in the Leagues Cup every summer against Liga MX sides, meaning top-level matches all year round. Tickets for Minnesota's matches, from the cheapest to the most exclusive, are available on Livefootballtickets.com.
Rivalries
The Midwest Derby vs Chicago Fire
The clash against Chicago Fire is the club's most intense rivalry, dating back to when Minnesota weren't even in MLS yet and the two sides met in the US Open Cup. This sporting enmity is down to how close the two cities are, both located in the Midwest.
