Stadium information
Name:
Toyota Stadium
Capacity:
20,500
Address:
9200 World Cup Way, Frisco, TX 75033, USA
Description:
Toyota Stadium has been home to FC Dallas since 2005 and was one of the first stadiums built specifically for football in the United States. Located in Frisco, north of Dallas, it's part of a large sports complex that includes numerous training pitches and that housed the National Soccer Hall of Fame for years. The club is currently carrying out a renovation of the venue to modernise its facilities and improve the fan experience, which is expected to be finished before the 2028 season.
The best way to get to Toyota Stadium
Once you've got your tickets for a Dallas match, you'll need to work out how to get to the stadium. Here are a few options to help you decide which one suits you best.
By car
This is the option most fans use, as Frisco is around 40 kilometres from downtown Dallas and public transport there is limited. Access to the venue from the highway is direct, and the complex has ample parking around the stadium. This is the most recommended option, especially if you're coming from Dallas.
By train and bus
If you'd rather avoid driving, the DART Orange Line runs to Parker Road station, from where you can complete the journey by bus or taxi, although the trip from downtown Dallas is quite a bit longer.
By bike
If you're already in Frisco, another option is to cycle there — there are trails and lanes around the stadium that lead right up to it, with bike parking areas at some of the entrances.
Toyota Stadium guide
Toyota Stadium is currently under renovation, so only two sections are open: the side on the east and the end on the south side.
The side stand offers a better perspective of the whole pitch. A press area is set up on this side. However, the few suites or premium areas that are open are located in the south end section, at the very top. If you're after the cheapest tickets, you'll find them in the corners, or close to them.
The south-west corner, the one furthest from the side that's currently open, is where the supporters' group is based — a standing section where the chanting doesn't stop throughout the match, and everyone in that area is encouraged to join in cheering on the team. In reality, you can enjoy the action on the pitch from any seat, since it's a compact stadium where no seat has poor visibility.
FC Dallas information
Current head coach:
Eric Quill
Current captain:
Shaq Moore
Position in MLS last season:
7th in the Western Conference. Eliminated in the First Round of the playoffs
Other information
The club was founded in 1995 under the name Dallas Burn, one of the ten founding clubs of MLS. It was in 2005 that the name changed to FC Dallas, when they moved into their own stadium.
Their academy is considered the best in the country, having recently produced world-class players such as Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, Chris Richards and Tanner Tessmann, all of them later sold to European clubs. This has become the foundation of the club's footballing model, whose production of talent has become a benchmark for the rest of the league.
FC Dallas honours
Dallas don't have an extensive trophy cabinet, holding just a Supporters' Shield, won in 2016, and two US Open Cups. They lost the 2010 MLS Cup final, so that remains their big piece of unfinished business. Tickets for Dallas's matches, from the cheapest to the most exclusive, are available on Livefootballtickets.com.
Rivalries
Main rival
The Texas Derby vs Houston Dynamo
The Texas Derby against Houston Dynamo is one of the league's most special rivalries, one in which both teams play for a trophy at every meeting. But it's no ordinary trophy — it's a cannon, a replica of American Civil War artillery known as El Capitán. Whichever team comes out on top in that season's head-to-head meetings keeps hold of this unusual trophy. On Dallas's side, whenever it's their turn to look after it, they've been given permission to fire it every time they score a goal playing at home.
Minor rivalries
The Copa Texas
Besides the derby against Houston, Dallas also competes for the Copa Texas, the trophy that brings together the state's three clubs alongside Dynamo and Austin FC. The winner is decided by the head-to-head results between them each season, which has turned these Texan derbies into the most eagerly awaited fixtures on the calendar.
The Brimstone Cup
This is the trophy they've contested since 2001 against Chicago Fire. This rivalry was born out of frequent meetings between the two clubs in MLS's early years, making it one of the oldest in the league.
