The Estádio António Coimbra da Mota is the home of G.D. Estoril Praia. It sits in Estoril, in the municipality of Cascais, close to the coast west of Lisbon. The ground holds around 8,000 spectators, which makes it one of the smaller stadiums in the Primeira Liga. It is named after António Coimbra da Mota, a former president of the club. The stadium also hosts Estoril's reserve team and has been used for Portuguese youth international games and the under-21 side. The Sweden national team trained here while preparing for UEFA Euro 2004, and the ground has even staged Portugal rugby union internationals. Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia was founded on 17 May 1939 in Estoril, in the municipality of Cascais near Lisbon. The club is nicknamed "os Canarinhos" (the Canaries) and plays in yellow and blue. The colours come from the town's beaches, the yellow for the sun and the blue for the Atlantic Ocean. Estoril have spent much of their history moving between the top flight and the second tier. The club's best ever Primeira Liga finish is fourth place, reached in the 2013–14 season, which also took them into the UEFA Europa League group stage. Since 2019 the club has been majority owned by American investor David Blitzer, with Rui Costa as president. Scottish coach Ian Cathro, who led the team to eighth in 2024–25 and tenth in 2025–26, left for French club Saint-Étienne in June 2026.
