Address:
Avenida Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, 4815-270 Moreira de Cónegos, Portugal
Description:
The Parque de Jogos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, also called the Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, is the home of Moreirense and sits in Moreira de Cónegos, a village in the Guimarães municipality. The ground was built in 2002 after two back-to-back promotions took the club to the Primeira Liga for the first time. It was ready in time for Moreirense's home games in the 2002–03 top-flight season. The stadium holds 6,150 spectators, so it is one of the smaller grounds in the Primeira Liga. The pitch measures 104 by 68 metres and is grass. It is a compact stadium and the crowd sits close to the pitch, which makes for a tight atmosphere on a matchday. Some of those supporters can book their Moreirense tickets through our secure booking system.
Best way to travel to Parque de Jogos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas
When you've booked your Moreirense tickets it's time to find out how you can get to the stadium. Moreira de Cónegos is a small place, so plan your trip in advance. These are the options you can use to get to the Stadium.
By Car
The car is the easiest way to reach the stadium. Moreira de Cónegos sits between Guimarães and Vizela, just off the A7 motorway, which links to the A3 between Porto and Braga. The N206 road runs through the village. Most fans drive in from Guimarães or Porto, which is around 45 minutes away. There is parking around the ground and on the streets nearby, and because the stadium is small it doesn't fill up like the bigger grounds. Get there early on a busy matchday and you won't have to walk far.
By Bus
Moreira de Cónegos is served by regional bus routes that connect the village with Guimarães, Vizela and Vila Nova de Famalicão. The buses drop you in the centre of the village, a short walk from the stadium. The service is less frequent than in the big cities, so check the timetable before you travel and follow the fans and you won't get lost.
By Train
There is no train station in Moreira de Cónegos itself. The nearest line is the Guimarães line, with stations at Vizela and Lordelo a few kilometres away. From there you would need a bus or a taxi to cover the last stretch to the stadium. The car or the bus is the simpler option for most visitors.
By Bicycle
Cycling to the Parque de Jogos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas is easier than you think. It is a quick and healthy way to make your journey and saves you a lot of money. On the bicycle you've got all the freedom you need. You can surpass traffic jams and avoid crowded public transport.
Parque de Jogos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas guide
The Parque de Jogos Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas is one of the smaller grounds in the Primeira Liga. The 6,150 seats fill up for the big games. That's where we come in, we've got you covered with tickets for every single Moreirense match. The stadium is divided in four sections, the South Stand, the North Stand, the East Stand and the West Stand.
South Stand
The South Stand is home of Moreirense's most vocal supporters. This is where the home fans who sing and stand take seat. The stand is located behind one of the goals. The South Stand is known for the loudest atmosphere in the stadium. When you want to experience the real Portuguese football, you need to look for South Stand tickets. Whenever Moreirense play towards this goal, you will get the authentic Moreirense feeling.
North Stand
On the opposite site of the South Stand, you will find the North Stand. This stand is behind the other goal. This is also where the away fans take seat, in a corner of the North Stand. So if you're following your team to Moreira de Cónegos, this is the place you need to look for. Don't forget to select the "away end" or away section when booking. The rest of the North Stand holds home fans. Especially during the big games, you will feel the tension and rivalry in the North Stand.
East Stand
Along the side of the pitch you will find the East Stand. This stand offers good sightlines across the whole pitch. The stand runs along the full length of the field. You get a clear view of the game from the side. The East Stand is a good pick for your first Moreirense match. It's a bit more about the view and a bit less about the noise. But you know for sure you will see everything.
West Stand
It won't be any surprise that this stand is on the opposite side of the East Stand. The West Stand is the main stand. It is located on the side of the dugouts, which gives you a little bit extra. You can hear the managers shouting and see the players warming-up from up close. This stand also holds the business seats and the hospitality area, so it's a bit more about the comfort and a bit less about the football atmosphere. But you know for sure you will have a great view.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your Moreirense tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison about all four stands. Check what's important to you and you will find the best stand for your wishes.

Other information
Moreirense Futebol Clube was founded on 1 November 1938 in Moreira de Cónegos, a village in the Guimarães municipality in the north of Portugal. The club is nicknamed "Os Verdes e Brancos", the Green and Whites, after the colours they play in, and is also known as "Os Homens de Moreira de Cónegos". Moreirense first reached the second tier in 1995 and made it to the Primeira Liga for the first time in 2002. Portuguese influences
Moreirense is of course a real Portuguese club, but what are the actual Portuguese influences at the moment? On the managerial front the club is led by Portuguese head coach Vasco Botelho da Costa, who joined from Alverca for the 2025–26 season, with Vítor Magalhães as president. The captain Marcelo is Brazilian, but the club leans on Portuguese players too. Kiko Bondoso, André Ferreira, Afonso Assis and Kiko are among the Portuguese names in the squad. These players are leading the team in Moreira de Cónegos.

Rivalries
Main Rivals
Vitória de Guimarães
Moreirense's main rivalry is the regional one with Vitória de Guimarães, who are based about 10 kilometres away in the city of Guimarães. The rivalry comes from the geography, as both clubs sit in the same municipality in the Minho region. Vitória are the bigger and more decorated club, with a much larger stadium and support, but the local pride makes this a fixture both sets of fans circle on the calendar. Moreirense have struggled to get results in Guimarães over the years, which adds to the edge whenever the two meet.
Minor Rivalries
Local clubs
Moreira de Cónegos sits close to Vizela and Vila Nova de Famalicão, so games against clubs from the wider Minho region carry a bit of local feeling. These fixtures don't have the history of a big derby, but for a small club like Moreirense the matches against the teams nearby still matter to the fans in the area.
