Stadium information
Name:
Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior
Capacity:
7,000
Address:
Complexo Desportivo de Rio Maior, 2040 Rio Maior, Portugal
Description:
Casa Pia's own ground is the Estádio Pina Manique in Lisbon, but it does not meet Primeira Liga standards. That's why the club plays its home games at the Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior. The ground is in Rio Maior, a town around 75 kilometres north of Lisbon. It opened in 2003 and holds 7,000 people. The pitch measures 104 by 68 metres. Casa Pia have used it as their home since the 2023–24 season, their second year in the Primeira Liga. The stadium is part of the Rio Maior sports complex, which also has training pitches, an Olympic swimming pool and indoor halls. The Portuguese youth teams use the complex too. It is a small, functional ground, so tickets are limited. The record crowd here is 7,051, set on 25 January 2025 when Casa Pia beat Benfica 3–1. Some of those supporters can book their Casa Pia tickets through our secure booking system.
Best way to travel to Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior
When you've booked your Casa Pia tickets it's time to find out how you can get to the stadium. The ground is in Rio Maior, not in Lisbon, so plan your trip ahead. These are the options you can use to get to the stadium.
By Car
The car is the easiest way to get to Rio Maior. The town sits just off the A1 and the A15 motorways, around an hour's drive north of Lisbon. From the A1 you take the exit for Aveiras and follow the A15 towards Rio Maior. The sports complex is signposted in the town. There is parking around the ground, but space fills up fast on a matchday, so come early.
By Bus
Rede Expressos and other coach companies run services from Lisbon to Rio Maior. The bus station is in the centre of the town, a short walk or quick taxi from the stadium. The coach is a good option if you don't have a car. Follow the fans and you won't get lost.
By Train
There is no train station in Rio Maior itself. The nearest line stops are some distance from the town, so most fans travel in by car or coach. If you come by train to a nearby town you will still need a bus or taxi for the last stretch to the ground.
By Bicycle
Cycling to the Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior is easier than you think. It is a quick and healthy way to make your journey and saves you a lot of money. On the bicycle you've got all the freedom you need. You can surpass traffic jams and avoid crowded public transport.
Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior guide
The Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior is a small ground with room for 7,000. On the big games the seats sell out fast. That's where we come in, we've got you covered with tickets for Casa Pia's home matches. The stadium is divided in four sections, the South Stand, the North Stand, the East Stand and the West Stand.
South Stand
The South Stand is home of Casa Pia's most vocal supporters. This is where the Geese fans take seat and make the noise. The stand is located behind one of the goals. The South Stand is known for the loudest atmosphere in the ground. When you want to experience the real Casa Pia feeling, you need to look for South Stand tickets. Whenever Casa Pia play towards this goal, you will get the authentic Casa Pia feeling.
North Stand
On the opposite site of the South Stand, you will find the North Stand. This stand is behind the other goal. This is also where the away fans take seat, in a corner of the North Stand. So if you're following your team to Rio Maior, this is the place you need to look for. Don't forget to select the "away end" or away section when booking. The rest of the North Stand holds home fans. Especially during the big games, you will feel the tension and rivalry in the North Stand.
East Stand
Along the side of the pitch you will find the East Stand. This stand offers good sightlines across the whole pitch. The stand runs along the full length of the field. You get a clear view of the game from the side. The East Stand is a good pick for your first Casa Pia match. It's a bit more about the view and a bit less about the noise. But you know for sure you will see everything.
West Stand
It won't be any surprise that this stand is on the opposite side of the East Stand. The West Stand is the main stand. It is located on the side of the dugouts, which gives you a little bit extra. You can hear the managers shouting and see the players warming-up from up close. This stand also holds the hospitality seats, so it's a bit more about the comfort and a bit less about the football atmosphere. But you know for sure you will have a great view.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your Casa Pia tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison about all four stands. Check what's important to you and you will find the best stand for your wishes.

Other information
Casa Pia Atlético Clube was founded on 3 July 1920 in Lisbon. The club is named after Casa Pia, a Portuguese children's charity, and many of its early players came from that institution. Casa Pia are nicknamed "Os Gansos" (the Geese). After a long spell in the lower divisions, the club won promotion from the Segunda Liga in 2021–22 and returned to the top flight in 2022–23 after a hiatus of 83 years. In 2025–26 Casa Pia finished 16th in the Primeira Liga and kept their place after winning a relegation play-off against Torreense. Álvaro Pacheco, who arrived in January 2026 and led that survival, left the club in June 2026, with Vasco Matos named as his successor for the 2026-2027 season.
Portuguese influences
Casa Pia is a real Portuguese club, but what are the actual Portuguese influences at the moment? On the managerial front the club is led by Portuguese head coach Vasco Matos, who returns to Casa Pia after working there before as an assistant. On the pitch things are clear too. Veteran defender and captain José Fonte, a former Portugal international and Euro 2016 winner, leads the side, with Rafael Brito and other Portuguese players around him. These Portuguese players are leading the team and setting the tone for the rest.

Rivalries
Main Rivals
A small-club rivalry
Casa Pia do not have one single fierce rival in the way the big Lisbon clubs do. As one of the smaller sides in the capital, they have spent most of their history in the lower divisions, away from the heated derbies. Their games against the bigger Lisbon clubs like Benfica and Sporting CP are the ones the fans look forward to most, even if those are not classic rivalries. Beating one of the giants is always a big day for the Geese.
Minor Rivalries
Lisbon clubs
There is a bit of local feeling against the other smaller Lisbon-area clubs the Geese have met over the years in the lower leagues. These games carry some history for older supporters, but they are friendly rather than fierce. For most fans the biggest draw is simply seeing Casa Pia hold their own against the bigger names in the Primeira Liga.
