Superb! Easy to purchase a ticket. I had a live customer service chat once, the staff member was so polite, helpful and informative. I loved the communication after purchase. On the match day they contacted me on WhatsApp if I want an upgrade on my tickets for free and after my confirmation I got my tickets within a minute. Great experience, thank you.

This is the best and most trusted website to get your tickets to any world event. I have used them 3 times throughout the years, I have used other sites for football matches and they are so transparent and fast, the first time I used them was in 2018 for a Roma match and then made the mistake to use a different site for the PSG match in April and they were terrible, from the website, customer service and responses. this is the only site I trust and use!

Bought 2 Club Wembley tickets less than 48 hours before the Championship Play Off Final. Good communication and tickets arrived the following day by email. No problems getting into the stadium and seats were great. Unfortunately my team’s performance was the only let down. Would definitely use this company again.

It was easier than I thought to find a group of seven seats together and very simple to book. Communication was excellent, the tickets were sent quickly and were easy to access, so no problems at the stadium. Seats were good and we had a great view. Everything worked well and I'll definitely be back for tickets again - many thanks!

Championship legends & stars

Ever since the old Second Division was rebranded the Championship, the league has seen some amazing goalscorers and grafters. The money now flowing through English football has helped clubs invest in better squads even at second-tier level. It will take us way too long to talk about every single star that has ever played in the league. But there are some exceptions we can't go without mentioning on this page. Billy Sharp is one of them, the Sheffield United striker is still to date the all-time Championship goalscorer. With 130 goals, he's ahead of the competition. David Nugent, Ross McCormack and Troy Deeney are a few of the Championship's other great goalscorers. They've been amazing players for their clubs. Currently there are also a lot of players who are an absolute joy to watch. These are a few of the Championship stars people want to see live with their own Championship tickets.

Current Championship Stars (2026-2027)

The Championship continues to be one of the best-attended second-tier leagues anywhere in the world. These are some of the players lighting up stadiums across England this season.

  • Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United) – The Hammers' talisman and captain, still creating and scoring goals at a Premier League level after relegation.
  • Josh Sargent (Norwich City) – The USA international has been Norwich's most reliable source of goals in recent Championship campaigns.
  • Grady Diangana (West Bromwich Albion) – A tricky, direct winger who has become a mainstay for the Baggies.
  • Oliver Norwood (Sheffield United) – The experienced Northern Ireland midfielder dictates the play from deep for the Blades.
  • Jay Rodriguez (Burnley) – A Championship veteran whose movement and finishing have kept him prolific well into his thirties.
  • Cameron Archer (Southampton) – A sharp, hard-working forward looking to fire the Saints straight back to the Premier League.
  • Josh Windass (Sheffield United) – Combines energy and end product from midfield, a fan favourite wherever he plays.
  • Callum O'Hare (Coventry City, on loan history in the division) – A creative attacking midfielder synonymous with entertaining Championship football.
  • Wes Foderingham (West Bromwich Albion) – A commanding, experienced goalkeeper who has kept the Baggies in countless matches.

The Big Six: Championship's Big-City Clubs

The six clubs with the biggest history and stature in this season's Championship are what we call the Big Six. Which is a big difference with the top 6 of course. We see it in our ticket sales as well, the big six clubs are the ones who attract the most fans. These sides have all spent long spells in the top flight and remain some of the best-supported clubs anywhere in English football.

Who Are the Big Six?

West Ham United – Three-time FA Cup winners with a passionate East London fan base. West Ham have always been a big club with big ambition, and the London Stadium (62,500) is now the biggest stadium anywhere in the second tier.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – Three-time English top-flight champions in the 1950s, Wolves were one of the dominant forces of English football long before the Premier League existed. Molineux (31,750) has hosted European nights against some of the continent's biggest clubs.

Southampton – Southampton is a bit of a strange one. It has produced many top quality academy graduates over the years, yet a first ever English top-flight title has always eluded the Saints. In the same time they've reached an FA Cup final and enjoyed some memorable Premier League seasons at St Mary's.

Sheffield United – The Blades are genuine Championship yo-yo specialists, bouncing between the second and top tier more than most. They were really shaped by their late-19th century title win, and Bramall Lane remains one of the oldest, most atmospheric grounds in English football.

Derby County – Another big club whose fortunes have swung wildly over the decades. Under Brian Clough in the 1970s, Derby were crowned champions of England twice. Pride Park (33,597) is still one of the biggest and best-appointed stadiums outside the Premier League.

Norwich City – Norwich are the last one out of the big six and one of the Championship's most consistent performers, having won the division title itself twice since 2004. The Canaries haven't managed to sustain a long run in the Premier League, but Carrow Road remains one of English football's best atmospheres.

Why Does the Big Six Matter?

Financial Dominance

These six clubs generate the highest revenues in the Championship through matchday income, parachute payments, commercial partnerships, and global merchandise sales. Their financial muscle allows them to attract experienced players and managers with genuine Premier League pedigree.

The Automatic Promotion Race

For every club in the Championship there is a real top-two race. The top 2 automatically qualify for the Premier League. From the 2026/27 season, the play-off places expanded from four to six teams, running from third to eighth position, giving even more clubs a route to the top flight via the Wembley final. Therefore it's important for all teams to finish in the top 8.

Historic Rivalries

There are many exciting derbies and rivalries in the Championship. Especially among the bigger clubs, there are a few heated battles. In this table we take you along those rivalries:

  • South Yorkshire Derby: Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday
  • South Coast Derby: Southampton vs Portsmouth
  • Severnside Derby: Bristol City vs Cardiff City
  • London Derbies: West Ham United vs Millwall, Millwall vs Charlton Athletic, Queens Park Rangers vs Millwall

Big Six Head-to-Head: Honours & History

Club Top-flight Titles FA Cups League Cups Championship Titles (since 2004)
Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 4 2 2
Derby County 2 1 0 0
Sheffield United 1 4 0 0
West Ham United 0 3 0 0
Norwich City 0 0 2 2
Southampton 0 1 0 0

Only 14 different clubs have won the Championship title since it was rebranded in 2004. Eight of those clubs have won it twice, including Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers from this season's Big Six.

The Challengers

It doesn't happen often that the big 6 also forms the top 6. There are always a few of them underperforming, while some other teams are doing really well. Some of these challengers are:

West Bromwich Albion – The Baggies remain one of the best-supported clubs in the division and are perennial promotion hopefuls at The Hawthorns (26,850).

Burnley – Sean Dyche's old stomping ground has become a genuine yo-yo club, using their tight-knit Turf Moor (21,944) to grind out results against bigger-spending sides.

Middlesbrough – Boro have been Championship playoff regulars for years, with the 34,742-capacity Riverside Stadium among the biggest and loudest in the division.

Wrexham – The Welsh club's rise from the National League to the Championship in successive seasons is one of the most remarkable stories in modern English football.

History

At the end of the 2003-2004 season, the Football League rebranded its top division. The idea behind the rebrand was to give the second tier of English football its own clear identity, separate from the old First and Second Division names. The clubs adopted the name "Football League Championship" from the start of the 2004-05 season, and it has kept this basic structure ever since. This second-tier division remains part of the English Football League (EFL), working alongside the Premier League and the Football Association. This gives the Championship the chance to promote its clubs into the riches of the Premier League every season. With this structure, second-tier English clubs are given a genuine pathway to competing with the very best in Europe. The Championship started life without a title sponsor, but the Football League soon reached an agreement with Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola sponsored the league between 2004 and 2010. In 2010 npower took over the sponsorship. npower's deal ran until 2013, when Sky Bet signed a five-year agreement to sponsor the league. Sky Bet has remained the Championship's title sponsor ever since.

Championship wins and trophies

Defending Championship champions are Coventry City, who won the 2025-2026 title under Frank Lampard — the club's first Championship title and a return to the top flight after 25 years away. Eight clubs have won the Championship twice since 2004, the most of any side in the history of the division: Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, Leicester City, Burnley, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Reading and Sunderland. Other teams that have won the Championship are West Bromwich Albion, Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City, AFC Bournemouth and Fulham. Cheap and premium football tickets for the Sky Bet Championship are available to buy now at LiveFootballTickets.com. In the table below you will find the clubs who have won the trophy since the rebrand of the Championship in 2004.

Premier League promotion

The numbers one and two in the final ranking on the Championship table automatically get promoted to next season's Premier League. From the 2026/27 season, the teams finishing from third to eighth compete in an expanded play-off format, with the winner of the two-legged semi-finals and Wembley final claiming the third and final promotion place. Reaching the Premier League is basically the goal for every Championship club every season. Everything less than promotion means at least one more year in the second tier for these ambitious clubs. The battle for the automatic spots and the play-offs is a very exciting one until the end of the season. Book your Championship tickets securely online and support your team in their battle for promotion.

Relegation

The battle for promotion isn't the only exciting battle in the Championship. The tension is probably even higher at the bottom of the table. The three teams with the least points at the end of every season get relegated to League One. Relegation is the biggest fear for every team in the Championship. Although there are some teams which are highly unlikely to go down, nobody is safe in this competition. It's without a doubt the worst thing to happen for every team in the Championship. Teams in fear of relegation can use all the support you can give them. So, watch the matches of your favourite team live at the stadium. You really will enjoy the true English football atmosphere.

Stadiums

The Championship has everything to offer a real football fan is looking for. You can watch a match in some of the biggest, loudest, most passionate stadiums in the country, several of which have hosted Premier League and even European football. The London Stadium and Pride Park are two of the largest and most modern grounds in the division. The other side of the spectrum is also available in the Championship. Fratton Park is a really authentic English football stadium. The stadium serves as Portsmouth's home ground since 1899. Football fans from all over the world visit the best stadiums in the Championship and tell us every stadium is a completely different experience. Follow their lead and we are sure you will agree with them. Championship fans are famous for their loyalty and volume, often outsinging Premier League crowds.
