The Valley Directions: Match day parking is limited outside the stadium, with most fans using public transport to get to the ground. If driving, the best option is to use the A2, followed by the A206, turn onto Charlton Lane before turning right onto Harvey Gardens.
Description of Stadium: The stadium gained its name for the unique design of the pitch positioned below the spectators. With little money available in 1919, Charlton Athletic fans created a pitch in an abandoned chalk pit, fans originally stood on earth mounds looking over the pitch. Few improvements were made until the early 1980s and the construction of The Jimmy Seed Stand, named for the 1947 FA Cup winning manager. Shortly after, the club fell into administration and rebuilt three sides of the stadium in the early 1990s, selling The Valley tickets again in 1992. The rebuild has provided a stadium with high quality, modern amenities and great sight lines for the pitch. When buying The Valley football tickets the best atmosphere is often reported in the North Stand, which houses the band and most vocal supporters.
