2024 Football finals update

p>May is usually seen as the big final month in football. This year is no different. That’s why we like to keep you up-to-date on the many upcoming finals. In this article we briefly look at the Champions League final, FA Cup final, Europa League final, Europa Conference League final and the Championship play-off final.

Champions League final

The biggest final in club football is the Champions League final. For England it will be a strange final this year. In the last five finals, a total of 6 English teams participated. This year the final is played at Wembley and for the first time in 3 years it’s without an English team. Manchester City and Arsenal both got eliminated in the quarter finals. Serial winners Real Madrid and dark horse Borussia Dortmund are the two teams to enter the pitch at Wembley on the first of June. Champions League final tickets for fans of both clubs are limited available.

FA Cup final

A week before the Champions League final, Manchester United and Manchester City go back to Wembley to play their second consecutive FA Cup final. For the second year in a row, it’s an all Manchester affair at Wembley. Last year it was an interesting final with Manchester City opening the score already in the first minute. A penalty by Bruno Fernandes and an early second half goal by Gundogan lifted the score to 2-1 for Man City. This was the final score and Man City’s second step towards a historical treble.

Europa League final

A few hundred miles away from Wembley, Atalanta Bergamo and Bayer Leverkusen will play the Europa League final. Two good teams, but one will be the clear favourite. By the time of writing this article, Bayer Leverkusen just got through to the final with a 2-2 draw against AS Roma. After being 2-0 down, they managed to get another draw. This means Bayer Leverkusen remains unbeaten so far this season. With only 2 Bundesliga matches, 1 DFB Pokal final and the Europa League final to go, Bayer Leverkusen can complete an unbeaten treble, which will be a huge achievement. Fans can book their Europa League tickets to support their team at Dublin Arena.

Conference League final

The last European club final to discuss is the Conference League final. The final will be played at Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens. This is going to be a very special place to host the final. AEK Athens plays their home matches in this stadium. One of their biggest rivals Olympiacos will play the final here against Fiorentina. It’s interesting to see if there will be any sort of home soil advantage for the Greek team.

Championship play-off final

This weekend is the start of some exciting weeks in the Championship. The regular season has finished, which saw Leicester City and Ipswich Town getting promoted to the Premier League. Leeds United, Norwich City, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion qualified for the Championship play-off semi-finals. Norwich City will face Leeds United and Southmpton plays against West Bromwich Albion. The winners of those ties will get a Championship play-off final ticket and are going to decide which team goes to the Premier League.
