I was first hesitant about buying tickets through a website I hadn't heard of but I was very pleased with the service from LiveFootballTickets. I bought a reasonably priced ticket to the Arsenal v Manchester City Community Shield match and it was delivered the next day and successfully saved to wallet without any problems. On matchday the ticket scanning worked just fine and I was able to see a memorable match in my home city. Great booking experience! Highly recommended for football events

Stadium information

Name:

Weserstadion

Capacity:

42,100

Address:

Am Weserstadion 1, 28199 Bremen, Germany

Description:

The Weserstadion sits on the banks of the river Weser in central Bremen and is one of the most recognisable football grounds in Germany. The stadium holds 42.100 spectators and has been the home of Werder Bremen since 1909, making it one of the oldest grounds still in use at the top level of German football. Not only is the location next to the Weser river very special, also the atmosphere the supporters create inside the ground on matchdays is something that visiting fans regularly talk about for a long time after. The standing sections in the Nordkurve and around the lower tiers bring the crowd very close to the pitch. When the Weserstadion is sold out, you will feel the noise from the four stands as one continuous sound that is very hard to describe from outside. The Weserstadion has been without a commercial naming sponsor since 2024 and will keep its historic name until at least 2030, thanks to an agreement with the club’s long-standing partners.

Best way to travel to the Weserstadion

When you’ve booked your Werder Bremen tickets it’s time to find out how you can get to the stadium. The Weserstadion is located on the west bank of the Weser river, just over 2 kilometres south of the Bremen city centre. The club recommends public transport on matchdays. These are the options you have to get to the Weserstadion.

By Tram

The tram is the most direct and comfortable way to reach the Weserstadion. Lines 1 and 8 both stop at the Weserstadion halt, which is directly in front of the main entrance. From Bremen Hauptbahnhof the journey by tram takes around 15 minutes and the trams run very frequently on matchdays. You will find a lot of other Werder supporters on the tram from the city centre and also this part of the journey is already part of the matchday experience. Not only do the regular tram services run, also extra trams are added after the final whistle to handle the large number of supporters leaving the stadium at the same time.

By Train

Bremen Hauptbahnhof has very good rail connections to all the major cities in northern Germany. From Hamburg it is around 55 minutes by regional express or ICE to Bremen. From Hannover the journey takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Also from Amsterdam, Cologne and other cities further away, Bremen is well connected by direct train. From Hauptbahnhof you then take the tram as described above. On matchdays you will find extra train services on the schedule and a very good mix of supporters arriving from different directions at the station.

By Car

The Weserstadion is accessible by car from the A27 motorway. Several car parks are available in the area around the ground. On matchdays you need to count on some traffic in the streets around the Weserstadion, especially in the 45 minutes before kick-off. Also the journey out after the final whistle takes some time when the stadium is sold out. When you are coming from far away, the combination of parking at one of the park-and-ride options outside the city and then taking the tram is often much more relaxed than driving all the way to the stadium.

By Bicycle

The Weserstadion is very well suited for cycling. The riverbank path along the Weser gives a very pleasant approach on a matchday. From the city centre it is around 15 minutes by bicycle to the stadium. Bicycle parking you will find in very large numbers directly around the ground. Not only is cycling very popular among Bremen supporters, also you avoid all the traffic and the crowded trams around kick-off. On matchdays you will find hundreds of bicycles parked outside the stadium from the moment the gates open.

Weserstadion guide

The Weserstadion has four stands. The steep terraces bring you very close to the pitch from almost every position. The 42.100 places are divided between the Haupttribüne, the Gegentribüne, the Nordkurve and the Südkurve.

Haupttribüne (Main Stand)

The Haupttribüne is the covered main stand of the Weserstadion, running along one long side of the pitch. This is where you will find the press area, the VIP boxes and the most comfortable seating in the whole ground. The roof gives good protection from the Bremen weather, which can be quite wet and cold on winter matchdays. From the Haupttribüne you will have a very good view along the full length of the pitch and a clear line of sight to the Nordkurve at the far end. Also the Haupttribüne is where the family section is located, making it a very good option for supporters who want a bit more comfort and a quieter environment.

Gegentribüne (West Stand)

On the opposite site of the Haupttribüne, you will find the Gegentribüne. Also this stand gives a very good view along the full length of the pitch. It is more affordable than the main stand and is a popular choice for supporters who want a reliable view at a fair price. From the Gegentribüne you will have a full overview of the Haupttribüne across the pitch and both curves to your left and right. Also this is a very good first choice for people visiting the Weserstadion for the first time who want to take in the full picture of the ground before deciding which section they prefer on future visits.

Nordkurve (North Stand)

The Nordkurve is where you will find the most passionate Werder Bremen supporters. The ultras group known as the Weserkurve takes seat in the standing section of the Nordkurve, where the atmosphere on matchdays is more intense than anywhere else in the stadium. The singing starts before the players even enter the pitch. When Werder score, you will feel the explosion of noise from the Nordkurve travelling across the whole ground in a second. Also this stand has the most impressive visual choreographies on big matchdays. Not only does the Nordkurve create the atmosphere, also it provides a backdrop of green and white that makes the Weserstadion look exactly as a football ground should look on a Bundesliga matchday.

Südkurve (South Stand)

On the opposite site of the Nordkurve, you will find the Südkurve. Also this stand has strong home support in the main sections, with the away fans placed in a clearly separated block at one side of the stand. The Südkurve is a good affordable option for supporters who want to be in the end stands without the maximum intensity of the Nordkurve. From the Südkurve you will get a very good view of both the Haupttribüne and the Gegentribüne, and on big Bundesliga matchdays you will feel the atmosphere from the Nordkurve very clearly from this position.

Which stand should you choose?

Not every stand gives you the same experience at the Weserstadion. We made this table so you can compare all four stands in one quick look. Check what matters to you and you will find the right stand.

Priority Best Stand Why
Best atmosphere Nordkurve Standing Weserkurve ultras section, loudest part of the stadium
Best view Haupttribüne Central Full pitch sightlines, covered, comfortable seating
First-time visitor Gegentribüne or Südkurve Good overview, affordable, full stadium visible
Families with children Haupttribüne Lower (Family Section) Quieter, good facilities, comfortable seating
Budget-conscious Gegentribüne or Südkurve Good value, decent view, strong matchday atmosphere
Singing & standing Nordkurve Standing Expect to stand and sing for the full 90 minutes

Club history

SV Werder Bremen was founded on 4 June 1899 in the city of Bremen. The club was started by young workers in the Werderdüne district, next to the river Weser, and the name “Werder” comes from the low-lying land by the water. For the first decades the club played in the northern German regional divisions. Nothing very special happened. The Bundesliga started in 1963 and Werder Bremen were one of the founding members. From there, the club built a long and impressive Bundesliga history. Not only did they win four Bundesliga titles in 1965, 1988, 1993 and 2004, also they became a well-known name in European football. On 6 May 1992, Werder Bremen won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in Lisbon by beating AS Monaco 2-0 in the final. It was one of the proudest nights in the club’s whole history. The 2003-04 season was the last time Werder won the Bundesliga, and they also won the DFB-Pokal in the same year. A double. But then came harder times. After several years of mid-table finishes, the club was relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of the 2020-21 season. For a club with this history that was very painful. But they came back immediately. They won the 2. Bundesliga in 2021-22 and returned to the top flight. In the 2025-26 Bundesliga season the club finished 15th. A difficult campaign. Daniel Thioune was appointed as head coach in February 2026 and guided the club to safety.

German influences

SV Werder Bremen has a very strong German identity. The club is the Volksverein of Bremen, which means the people’s club. This goes back more than 125 years. Not only is Werder deeply connected to the city and its people, also the green and white colours of the club are a direct reference to the colours of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. When you arrive in Bremen on a matchday, you will find green and white in every corner of the city. Also the Weserstadion itself, on the banks of the river, is a symbol of this connection between the club and its city. The loyal supporter group around the Weserkurve has been singing in the Nordkurve for decades. Captain Marco Friedl, who has been with the club for several years and has earned the captaincy through his consistent performances, represents the determination and fighting spirit that Werder fans always expect from their team. When you come to the Weserstadion for a match, you will feel quite fast that this is not just a football club. It is a very big part of this city.

SV Werder Bremen Honours & Trophies

SV Werder Bremen have four Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. For a club from a city the size of Bremen, this is a very impressive collection of honours. Not many German clubs outside the big cities come close to these numbers. Cheap and premium Werder Bremen football tickets for the Bundesliga are available to buy now at LiveFootballTickets.com.

Rivalries

Main Rivals

Nordderby against Hamburger SV

Ask any Werder Bremen supporter what the most important match of the season is and the answer is always the same. The Nordderby against Hamburger SV. The two clubs are separated by around 120 kilometres and represent the two biggest cities in northern Germany. The history between them goes back to the very start of German professional football. Not only is this a sporting rivalry, also the cultural difference between the two cities gives the Nordderby an extra edge that supporters on both sides feel very deeply. Both clubs have had periods of great success and periods of real struggle, and the derby has always carried a very high emotional weight for both sets of fans. When Werder and Hamburg meet, you will feel the intensity from the very first minute.

Minor Rivalries

Rivalry with Hannover 96

The rivalry with Hannover 96 is another important fixture for Werder supporters. Both clubs come from the north of Germany and they have been competing against each other in the Bundesliga for many decades. When the two clubs are in the same division, the match carries a clear regional pride. Not only is there a sporting competition, also the identity of two northern German clubs who are very proud of where they come from gives these fixtures a certain atmosphere that you will not find in a regular league match without any regional connection.

Frequently Asked Questions about Werder Bremen tickets

We managed to get our hands on Werder Bremen football tickets for almost every Bundesliga match. Select the away match you want to attend and then look at the ticket inventory. All our away match tickets are labelled. The most used labels for Werder’s away matches are: Werder section, Away section, Werder Bremen fans section and away end.
