The stadium officially opened on July 30 2004 after and was designed by the architect Marc Laurens. With a capacity of 54,057 for league matches and 46,249 for international matches, it’s the 5th biggest stadiums in the German Bundesliga. Despite being a modern and big stadium it was not selected for hosting games during the Germany EURO 2024.
