Stadium information
Name:
Stade Louis II
Capacity:
18,523
Address:
7 avenue des Castelans, 98000 Monaco
Description:
The Stade Louis II is the home of AS Monaco and sits in the Fontvieille district, a stretch of land reclaimed from the sea right on the Mediterranean coast of the Principality. The current stadium was inaugurated in 1985 by Prince Rainier III, replacing the original ground that carried the same name, and today it seats 18,523 spectators. It is one of the most distinctive venues in Europe, instantly recognisable by the nine arches along its main stand, and it has staged plenty of history over the years, including fifteen editions of the UEFA Super Cup. Built around an athletics track, the stadium is a true sporting complex, with an Olympic swimming pool and a host of other facilities housed beneath the pitch. A lucky few of those 18,523 supporters can book their AS Monaco tickets through our secure booking system.
Best way to travel to Stade Louis II
When you've booked your AS Monaco tickets it's time to find out how you can get to the stadium. The Principality is tiny and very well served by public transport, so most fans arrive on foot or by bus or train. These are the options you can use to get to the ground.
By Train
The Monaco Monte Carlo railway station sits in the heart of the Principality and is served by frequent regional trains running along the coast from Nice and Menton, as well as connections from further afield. From the station it is a pleasant walk of around twenty minutes down to Fontvieille and the stadium, or you can hop on a local bus to cover the last stretch.
By Bus
The Monaco bus network is cheap, frequent and easy to use, and several lines stop close to Fontvieille and the Stade Louis II. Buses are a great way to move around the Principality on a matchday and they drop you within a short walk of the turnstiles.
By Car
Driving into Monaco on a matchday is not the easiest option, as the streets are busy and space is at a premium. If you do come by car, the best bet is to use one of the public underground car parks in Fontvieille close to the stadium and walk the rest of the way. Bear in mind these can fill up quickly, so arrive in good time.
On Foot
Monaco is one of the most walkable places you will ever visit a football match in. The whole Principality is compact and flat along the coast, so wherever you are staying you can very often simply stroll down to Fontvieille and the Stade Louis II, taking in the marina and the Mediterranean views along the way.
Stade Louis II guide
The Stade Louis II is laid out around an athletics track, with two long stands running down the sides of the pitch and the home and away support gathered behind. The compact size means there is a fantastic, intimate feel on a big night, and the views from up in the stands across the pitch towards the sea and the hills are like nowhere else in the league. Whichever match you are attending, we've got you covered with tickets for every AS Monaco game.
Tribune d'Honneur
The Tribune d'Honneur is the main stand, running down one full side of the pitch beneath the stadium's famous arches. This is where you'll find the dugouts, the best facilities and the hospitality areas, along with some of the finest views in the ground. If comfort and a clear view of the whole pitch are what you're after, start here.
The opposite side stand
Facing the Tribune d'Honneur across the pitch is the long stand on the other side of the ground. It offers excellent views along the full length of the pitch and tends to be a touch quieter and better value than the main stand, which makes it a solid choice for fans who want a great view without paying for the premium areas.
Behind the goals
The sections behind each goal are home to the most vocal AS Monaco supporters, who bring the songs and the colour that drive the team on. If you want to be among the noisiest part of the home crowd and soak up the atmosphere, aim for a seat behind the goal.
Visitors' section
Travelling fans are housed in their own designated part of the ground. If you're following your team to the Principality, this is the area to look for, so make sure you pick the "away end" or away section when you book your tickets.
Which stand should you choose?
It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your AS Monaco tickets. That's why we've created this table with a quick comparison of the different areas of the ground. Check what's important to you and you will find the best stand for your wishes.
| Priority | Best Stand | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Best atmosphere | Behind the goals | Where the most vocal home support gathers |
| Best view | Tribune d'Honneur | Full length of the pitch from under the arches |
| First time visitor | Tribune d'Honneur or the opposite side stand | Great views with a comfortable spot to take it all in |
| Families with children | The opposite side stand | Relaxed seating and clear sightlines |
| Budget conscious | The opposite side stand or behind the goals | Good value with solid views |
| Premium comfort | Tribune d'Honneur | Hospitality areas and the best facilities |
| Away supporters | Visitors' section | The designated away area at the Stade Louis II |

Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club was founded on 23 August 1924 and is based in the Fontvieille district of Monaco. The club is unusual in that, although the Principality is an independent country, AS Monaco are a member of the French Football Federation and compete in Ligue 1, with their training centre just over the border in France at La Turbie. Known as Les Rouge et Blanc for their famous red and white colours, and as Les Monégasques or simply Le Rocher (The Rock), the club has long been owned by Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev, with the Monégasque royal family also holding a stake.
A famous academy
AS Monaco are renowned for producing and developing some of the best players in the world. The most famous of all is Kylian Mbappé, who burst onto the scene at the Stade Louis II before becoming a global superstar, but the club has a long tradition of nurturing talent, with names such as Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet also coming through on the way to greatness. Allied to a strong recruitment of bright young players from around the world, that focus on youth is at the very core of what AS Monaco is about, and a big part of why a matchday in the Principality is so special.
