Reading Football Club is a team based in the English town of Reading, in Berkshire, UK. The club will compete in the 2016–17 Championship season. Reading Football Club was established in 1871 but did not join the Football League until 1920, and never played in the top tier of English football until the 2006–07 season. Reading is also known as The Royals as its nickname. Since 1998 Reading has played at the Madejski Stadium which seats up to 24,161 spectators.
Reading secured the Championship title on 21 April 2012, following second-placed Southampton's 2–1 defeat to Middlesbrough. The result left Southampton four points behind Reading with only one game remaining. Reading finished on the 19th spot in 2012-2013 and relegated back to the Championship.
