Stadium Information

Name:

Elland Road

Capacity:

37,645

Address:

Elland Road, Beeston, Leeds LS11 0ES, United Kingdom

Description:

Elland Road has been Leeds United's home since the club was founded in 1919, and it's one of the most atmospheric grounds in English football. Sitting in the Beeston area just south of Leeds city centre, it's a one-club city's spiritual home, and demand is extraordinary – Elland Road has sold out for years on end, with a season-ticket waiting list tens of thousands long. The ground is dominated by the towering East Stand, while the Don Revie Stand behind one goal is where the famous noise is generated. Statues of club greats Billy Bremner and Don Revie stand outside. Owners 49ers Enterprises have plans to redevelop and expand Elland Road towards a capacity of around 53,000 in the coming years, but its unique, intimidating atmosphere is set to remain very much intact.

The Best Way to Travel to Elland Road

Once you've booked your Leeds United tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to Elland Road. The ground sits a little under two miles from Leeds city centre in Beeston, and there are several good ways to make the trip. Here are the best options for a matchday visit.

By Train

The nearest mainline station is Leeds, around a mile and a half from the ground and very well connected, with fast services from London King's Cross, Manchester, York and across the north. Cottingley station is technically closer but far less useful. On matchday a dedicated shuttle bus (service R2) runs from Sovereign Street, near Leeds station, directly to the stadium, which is the easiest way to cover the last stretch.

By Car

For sat nav, use the postcode LS11 0ES. Elland Road is easy to reach from the M621, which links to the M62 and M1, and there are a number of Leeds City Council car parks around the stadium, most of which are best booked in advance as they fill up quickly on matchday. Arrive early to beat the traffic that builds around the ground before kick-off.

By Bus

The matchday R2 shuttle service, operated by First Leeds, runs from Sovereign Street next to Leeds station to Elland Road and back after the game. Regular local bus services also run from Leeds city centre towards Beeston and the stadium.

By Foot

Elland Road is around a 30-minute walk from Leeds city centre, heading south past the railway station and across towards Beeston. It's a popular route on matchday with plenty of fans making the same journey, so it's easy to follow the crowds, though many prefer the quick shuttle bus instead.

Elland Road Guide

Elland Road has four stands: the Don Revie Stand, the East Stand, the John Charles Stand, and the South Stand. Each has its own character, and the views and atmosphere differ from one to the next. Whatever match you're interested in, we have tickets for every Leeds United game.

Don Revie Stand (North Stand)

Behind one goal is the Don Revie Stand, better known as the Kop and named after the club's greatest manager. This is the home end and the beating heart of Elland Road's famous atmosphere, where the most passionate Leeds supporters gather and where most of the singing begins. If you want the full, raucous Leeds United experience, this is where you want to be.

East Stand

Running along one side of the pitch is the East Stand, the biggest stand at the ground. Opened in 1993, it was the largest cantilever stand in the world at the time, and its two tiers – split by a row of executive boxes – hold around 15,000 fans. The upper tier near the halfway line offers the best views in the stadium, and the designated family area is found in the lower tier.

John Charles Stand (West Stand)

Opposite the East Stand is the John Charles Stand, the main stand, named in 2004 after one of the club's greatest ever players. It houses the dugouts and the players' tunnel, along with good central views. The upper tier at the south end of this stand is also where visiting supporters are housed.

South Stand

Behind the opposite goal to the Kop is the South Stand, sometimes called the Elland Road Stand. Modernised in the 2000s, this two-tier stand is another vocal home area that competes with the Don Revie Stand to make the most noise on a big matchday.

Which Stand Should You Choose?

It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your Leeds United tickets. That's why we created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters most to you and you'll find the stand that fits what you're after.

Other Information

Founded in 1919 and known as the Whites, Leeds United are one of English football's most storied and best-supported clubs, playing at Elland Road throughout their history. Their golden era came under legendary manager Don Revie in the 1960s and 70s, when Leeds won league titles, the FA Cup and two European trophies and were a force at home and abroad. After years of ups and downs, including spells in the Championship and even League One, Daniel Farke led the club back to the Premier League as Championship winners in 2024/25, and a solid return season followed in 2025/26. The club is owned by 49ers Enterprises – the investment arm of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers – with chairman Paraag Marathe overseeing ambitious plans to redevelop Elland Road. Captain Ethan Ampadu, the reigning Player of the Season, has signed a new long-term deal as the heart of the team. Buy your Leeds United tickets online now!

English influences

Leeds United's history is woven through the story of the English game. No figure looms larger than Don Revie, the manager who built the great side of the 1960s and 70s and is honoured with a stand and a statue at Elland Road. That team was full of England internationals, from World Cup winner Jack Charlton to the famously combative Norman Hunter and prolific striker Allan Clarke. More recently, homegrown midfielder Kalvin Phillips – the "Yorkshire Pirlo" – came through the academy to become an England regular, carrying that local thread into the modern era.

Leeds United Honours & Trophies

Leeds United have a proud roll of honour built largely during the Don Revie era and added to over the decades. The club has won the English top-flight title three times, lifted the FA Cup and the League Cup, and were a major force in European competition in the late 1960s and early 70s, winning the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup twice. Most recently, they returned to the top flight as Championship winners in 2024/25.

Rivalries

Main Rivalry

Manchester United

Leeds United's fiercest rivalry is with Manchester United, the so-called Roses rivalry rooted in the historic enmity between Yorkshire and Lancashire that dates back to the Wars of the Roses. It's one of the biggest and most ill-tempered rivalries in English football, and with both clubs in the Premier League for 2026-2027, the meetings between them are among the most anticipated games of the season.

Minor Rivalry

Chelsea

Leeds also share a long-standing rivalry with Chelsea, which first flared up in the 1960s through a series of fierce and controversial matches, most famously the brutal 1970 FA Cup final – regarded as one of the most physical games in English football history. The edge between the two sets of fans has never entirely gone away.
