Stadium Information

Name:

Selhurst Park

Capacity:

25,486

Address:

Holmesdale Road, Selhurst, London SE25 6PU, United Kingdom

Description:

Selhurst Park has been Crystal Palace's home since 1924 and sits in the South London suburb of Selhurst, in the Borough of Croydon. Designed by the celebrated stadium architect Archibald Leitch and opened in 1924, the ground holds 25,486 today and is famous for its tight, steep stands that trap the noise and create one of the most intense atmospheres in English football. The club is currently redeveloping the old Main Stand, a project that will eventually push the capacity past 34,000, so expect building work around the ground on matchdays for the time being. Crystal Palace are the sole tenants now, though Selhurst Park has been shared with Charlton Athletic and Wimbledon in the past.

The Best Way to Travel to Selhurst Park

Once you've booked your Crystal Palace tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to Selhurst Park. There are several ways to reach the ground in South London, and if you're staying nearby the club actually recommends walking. Here are the best options for a matchday visit.

By Train

The train is usually the easiest way in. Three stations sit within roughly a 10-minute walk of the ground: Selhurst, Thornton Heath, and Norwood Junction, all served by frequent trains from central London terminals such as London Victoria and London Bridge. Norwood Junction is the largest and tends to be the smoothest for the postmatch crowds.

By Car

Use postcode SE25 6PU for satnav. Leave the M25 at Junction 7 and follow the A23 toward Croydon. Street parking around Selhurst Park is heavily restricted on matchdays, so it's worth arriving early and using a pre-booked parking space or a park-and-ride option rather than circling the residential streets. Give yourself plenty of extra time, as the area gets very congested before and after the match.

By Bus

London is a huge city, which means there are several ways to reach Selhurst Park by bus, with frequent services running toward the ground from all directions. You can plan your bus journey to the stadium using the Transport for London bus maps.

By Bike

Cycling is a healthy way to reach the ground, and with the heavy matchday restrictions on parking it can be quicker than driving. There's cycle parking near the stadium, letting you skip the traffic and the packed trains on the way in and out.

Selhurst Park Stadium Guide

Selhurst Park has four stands: the Holmesdale Road Stand, the Arthur Wait Stand, the Main Stand, and the Whitehorse Lane Stand. It's a compact, old-school ground where the crowd sits close to the pitch, which is a big part of what makes the atmosphere so fierce. Whatever match you're interested in, we have tickets for every Eagles game.

Holmesdale Road Stand

Behind one goal is the two-tier Holmesdale Road Stand, the newest stand at Selhurst Park and the home of the club's most passionate supporters, including the Holmesdale Fanatics. It's regularly described as one of the noisiest stands in the country, so if you want the full Crystal Palace experience, this is where you want to be – aim for the lower tier for the loudest atmosphere.

Arthur Wait Stand

Running along one touchline is the Arthur Wait Stand, the largest stand in the ground, named after a former chairman. Away fans are housed in the corner of this stand nearest the Whitehorse Lane end, typically with an allocation of around 3,000. A word of warning for the back rows: a TV gantry runs along the front of the roof, so seats high up can have a partly obstructed view of high balls – aim for seats nearer the front.

Main Stand

Along the opposite touchline is the Main Stand, the original Archibald Leitch structure that is currently being redeveloped into a much larger grandstand. While the work is ongoing, availability here is affected, so check the section carefully when booking.

Whitehorse Lane Stand

Behind the opposite goal to the Holmesdale is the Whitehorse Lane Stand, the smallest of the four, with executive boxes above and a section often used as the family area. It's a quieter, more relaxed part of the ground and a good choice if you're bringing children or attending your first match.

Which Stand Should You Choose?

It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your Crystal Palace tickets. That's why we created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters most to you and you'll find the stand that fits what you're after.

Other Information

Crystal Palace have just enjoyed the most successful period in their history. After lifting the FA Cup in 2025 – the first major trophy in the club's history – the Eagles went one better in 2026 by winning the Conference League, beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final through a Jean-Philippe Mateta goal. That triumph sent them into the Europa League for 2026-2027, a second straight season of European football. Goalkeeper and captain Dean Henderson, named in England's 2026 World Cup squad, has been at the heart of it all. The club is searching for a new manager following Oliver Glasner's departure. English influences

Crystal Palace have long been one of the Premier League's more distinctly English sides, both on the pitch and in the dugout. The current squad is captained by England goalkeeper Dean Henderson, named in England's 2026 World Cup squad, and features England midfielder Adam Wharton – man of the match in the Conference League final – alongside fellow English midfielder Will Hughes. Recent seasons have also seen homegrown and English talent move on to bigger stages, with Eberechi Eze joining Arsenal and long-serving England centre-back Marc Guéhi departing in 2026. The club's Selhurst Park academy has a proud record of producing English talent too, most famously Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. In the dugout, the Eagles' most recent English manager was the vastly experienced Roy Hodgson, who had two spells in charge before Oliver Glasner's trophy-laden era.

Crystal Palace Honours & Trophies

For most of their history Crystal Palace were known as a club without a major trophy, but that changed dramatically in the space of a single year. The Eagles won the FA Cup in 2024/25, beating Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley for their first-ever major honour, then added the Community Shield and, in 2026, their first European trophy with victory in the Conference League. Add a long top-flight history that includes a best finish of third in 1990/91, and Selhurst Park has rarely had more to celebrate.

Rivalries

Main Rivals

Brighton & Hove Albion

Although Crystal Palace sit in South London and Brighton are on the south coast some 45 miles away, Brighton & Hove Albion are Palace's fiercest rivals. The rivalry caught fire in the 1970s, peaking when the two were drawn together in the 1976–77 FA Cup. The tie went to two replays, with controversy when referee Ron Challis ordered a Brighton penalty to be retaken for encroachment; the retake was saved, Palace won 1-0, and a fierce and lasting rivalry was born.

Minor Rivalries

South London clubs

As a South London club, Palace also share local rivalries with the likes of Millwall and Charlton Athletic. The Charlton rivalry is heightened by history: the two clubs shared Selhurst Park for several years before Charlton returned to The Valley.
