World Cup Group E is causing drama

The World Cup tournament saw its biggest upset in the history of World Cup football just a day ago. Saudi Arabia managed to beat one of the favourites Argentina with 2-1 after being 1-0 down early in the match. Today we’ve seen Groups E and F in action. In this article we discuss the results in both groups. Fans of football can book their World Cup tickets securely online via our online booking system.

Group E

After the big upset from yesterday, every expected some straightforward results today. The match between Germany and Japan looked to be a copy of Saudi Arabia versus Argentina. Germany took the lead, saw a goal being disallowed and looked to get plain sailing to the finish. In a few minutes time, Japan turned the entire match around. With two goals in quick succession Japan managed to beat Germany. Another big upset in this World Cup tournament, but it was well-deserved for Japan.

The second match in this group was Spain versus Costa Rica. Finally a big team which just did what they should be doing. Spain played very good football and demolished Costa Rica with 7-0. A great start for Spain, who will face Germany in a few days. A win by Spain against Germany will most likely knock the Germans out of this tournament.

Group F

The start of this World Cup Day wasn’t very entertaining. Morocco started with a match against Croatia and neither of these teams managed to score a goal. Later on the day Belgium played against Canada. Where the Canadians got an early penalty, which was missed by Alphonso Davies. This didn’t change a thing in the playing style by Canada, but it was Belgium who took the lead at the end of the first half. Canada tried to get an equalizer in the second half, but they never managed to beat Thibaut Courtois. Belgium is now on 3 points, with Morocco and Croatia being on 1 point. Canada is still pointless, but they still have every chance to get through to the next stage.
