Leicester City suffers huge blow before Community Shield

This weekend English football finally returns. Traditionally the season is opened with the Community Shield. In this match the reigning Premier League champions and FA Cup holders will meet each other. This means Manchester City and Leicester City will meet each other at Wembley on Saturday. In their last preseason match before the Community Shield match, Leicester City suffered a huge blow. In the friendly against Villarreal, Wesley Fofana suffered a fracture to his fibula, after a dangerous tackle by Villarreal player Fernando Nino. Tough preseason Preseason hasn’t been how they wanted it in Leicester. After two draws (Burton Albion and Queens Park Rangers) and a loss against Wycombe, the Foxes played against Villarreal at King Power Stadium. This match was finally going in the right way for Leicester City. They got three nil up thanks to goals by Çaglar Söyüncü, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Pérez. But a tackle by Nino on Wesley Fofana, fractured Fofana’s fibula. Fofana left the pitch on a stretcher and Nino scored the 3-1 for Villarreal a little bit later. Aléx Millán scored another goal for Villarreal but it wasn’t enough for them to get a result. Leicester City won the match, but the atmosphere was down because of Fofana’s injury.
Replacement Leicester City looks strong in defenders, Fofana is a very talented defender, and he was destined to be a regular start for Leicester City. Now it’s up to Brendan Rodgers to decided who’s goes to replace him. Leicester looks to be playing with three at the back. So, they might go onto the market to find another good centre back. There’s also an opportunity they will switch to four at the back, with two centre-backs and two wing backs. There isn’t enough time for Rodgers to solve this puzzle before tomorrow’s Community Shield match. Do you want to attend this match at Wembley? Book your Community Shield tickets here!
