All five England Premier League clubs go through to Champions League Last 16

Manchester United, AS Roma, Juve, and FC Basel all qualified for the Last 16 of the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. In Champions League Gameweek 6, Spanish La Liga titan club Atletico Madrid won a point at Stamford Bridge. But Roma pinched the top spot from Chelsea in Group C after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid to come in second. Saul Niguez put Atletico ahead on the night, with the Spanish side needing a win and hoping Qarabag did them a favor against Roma before Hazard equalized via a deflection off Stefan Savic. Atleti who ended up in third will join Celtic in the UEFA Europa League Last 32, despite the Hoops losing 1-0 to Anderlecht in Glasgow. Roma secured their spot in the Last 16 with a win against Qarabag. Bayern Munich needed to beat PSG by four goals to confirm the top spot in Group B but instead won 3-1. Manchester United battled back from behind to defeat CSKA Moscow 2-1 at Old Trafford in Group A. Five English Premier League teams will make it through to the Last 16 of the Champions League for the first time if Liverpool secure qualification on Wednesday. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are guaranteed top spots in their groups with a game to spare and Manchester United beat CSKA Moscow 2-1 on Tuesday to finish top of Group A. Chelsea have also qualified for the Last 16 but as runners-up in Group C after drawing 1-1 against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. Antonio Conte's Chelsea side missed out on top spot because of their head-to-head record against group winners Roma. The first game between the two teams ended in a 3-3 draw in London, but Roma won 3-0 in the return match in Italy. On Wednesday, Liverpool will go through as Group E winners if they beat Spartak Moscow at Anfield in their final game. They will also qualify for the last 16 with a draw, although they would drop to second if Sevilla also beat Maribor. If Liverpool lose against Spartak Moscow they could finish third, therefore dropping into the Europa League, depending on the result of Maribor v Sevilla match. Clubs finishing first in their groups will be seeded and drawn against a second-placed team in the last 16. Sides cannot face teams from the same country or from their group. Third-placed teams move into the Europa League.

Manchester United 2-1 SKA - Fellaini, Lukaku, and Rashford secure UCL qualification

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said his side will be a match for anybody in the Champions League draw. Mourinho praised United's men after they came from behind to beat CSKA Moscow 2-1 to top Group A on Tuesday night. Alan Dzagoev scored a controversial opener but United fans were not concerned as only a record seven-goal defeat would have denied United a place in the Last 16. Rapid goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford came after the break turned the contest around as United won 2-1. United will learn their fate in the knockout stage draw to be held on Monday morning, with the Red Devils set to face either Bayern, Juve, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto or holders Real Madrid in the next stage on the road to Champions League glory. Mourinho said after Tuesday's win that while United will be feared by the rest of Europe's giant clubs however he cannot afford to take any more time to talk about the competition with the Manchester Derby against Manchester City coming up on Sunday.

"I am not the luckiest guy with draws, it is better I shut up and I forget it because we only play in February," said Portuguese coach Mourinho. “Until then I have to concentrate on the English competitions, I think it doesn't matter the team we get in the draw. That team will not be jumping with happiness to play against us. I don't think so." "We confirmed the way we wanted to confirm, which was to play well and have a good result," Mourinho added. "Half-time we were losing but playing well, I was not unhappy with the players at all. In the second half, we had that strong reaction, we didn't want to lose the match. The boys have played professionally and qualified the way we wanted to qualify. The team in the second half, they showed the desire of not qualifying with a defeat, we could lose four or five nil and qualify but that was not the objective - the objective was to play well and win and we managed both."

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said that no team will want to battle Chelsea in the Champions League knockout stages. The Blues slipped into second place in Group C after being held 1-1 by Atletico Madrid and Roma beat Qarabag, setting up potential Last-16 clashes with either Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain or Bestikas if Liverpool top their group. Eden Hazard said after the game that “Chelsea are a top team, we can do anything” in the competition, and his manager echoed the comments. "Our opponent won't be happy to play against us," Conte said after the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. "When you play this competition and you go through you must be ready to face the best teams. We can play against PSG, Barca or Besiktas, you have to be ready. It is a fantastic competition, the best, and you have to be ready for everything." "We tried to play our game and win. In the first half we tried to push, we created many chances to score and we conceded a goal from a corner,” added Conte. "When you play this way and create so much you must be satisfied. It was a good game. I think we deserved to win the game when you create so many chances, some important changes. We went 1-0 down but we tried to win, we must be pleased as it was a really tough group."

Manchester United scored 3 goals to earn 3 points on Tuesday evening, as United comfortably saw off FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League. Jose Mourinho's Man Utd side have already scored an amazing 15 goals in 5 games across all competitions this season and ended up on top of Group A after beating the Swiss champions at Old Trafford. Marouane Fellaini came off the bench in the first half to replace the injured Paul Pogba and opened the scoring with a powerful header, which earned him Man of the Match performance. It was a special night for strikers Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford who found the net on their Champions League debuts with second-half strikes.

Manchester Derby update
Man United manager Jose Mourinho sent a message to Man City boss Pep Guardiola ahead of the upcoming Manchester Derby, saying he might not be honest about the fitness of City star David Silva. The Manchester City manager has said the Spaniard may not be available for Sunday's Manchester Derby battle at Old Trafford between the two arch-rivals. But Manchester United boss Mourinho is not so sure after Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette was fit to play against the Red Devils on Saturday despite previously being ruled out by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. "Our opponents have all these issues. They have a big issue but in the end, everybody is ready to play. They have phenomenal organizations. We are a bit more humble. When we have a problem, we have a problem. When players are injured, they are injured. I tell you the truth. No stories of Lacazette or Silva. All truth. Eric Bailly has no chance. Phil Jones has a chance. Marouane Fellaini a chance. Zlatan Ibrahimovic a big chance. Nemanja Matic is injured but will play for sure."

Silva did not join the Sky Blues in their UEFA Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, and Guardiola said he does not know if he will recover in time for Sunday. The 31-year-old's 83rd-minute goal against West Ham United in the Premier League earned City a 2-1 win and took City’s winning run in the English top flight to 13 games. City are 8 points ahead of second-placed United at the top of the EPL table. United intends to reduce the gap by prevailing against City on Sunday. United beat City 1-0 in the last EFL Cup. United who defeated Arsenal 3-1 will be without talisman Frenchman Paul Pogba after he was sent off at the Emirates Stadium.
