PEC Zwolle was founded in 1910 in the city of Zwolle, through the merger of Prins Hendrik and Ende Desespereert Nimmer, making it one of the more established football clubs in the Netherlands. Known affectionately as "de Blauwvingers" (The Bluefingers) by their supporters, the club has spent much of its history alternating between the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie, but has built a loyal following in Zwolle that has stuck with the club through both good times and difficult ones.
