Enjoyed a great night of football at the City Ground. Will definitely book with this service next time. Thank you."

– Donna Ellis, Trustpilot, June 2025

"Quickly delivered after my purchase, just 4-5 hours before the Arsenal–Nottingham game. Perfect seat, but the price a little steep. I would trust LiveFootballTickets for my next instant decision to watch a PL game."

Stadium Information

Name:

City Ground

Capacity:

30,445

Address:

The City Ground, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 5FJ, United Kingdom

Description:

The City Ground is one of the oldest and most atmospheric stadiums in English football, home to Nottingham Forest since 1898. It sits on the banks of the River Trent just south of the city centre, with the Trent Bridge cricket ground as its near neighbour, giving it one of the most distinctive settings in the country. It was here, under Brian Clough, that Forest produced one of football's greatest stories – back-to-back European Cup triumphs in 1979 and 1980. Rebuilt in stages over the decades, the ground has an asymmetrical, layered character that is typically and proudly English.

The Best Way to Travel to the City Ground

Once you've booked your Nottingham Forest tickets, it's time to figure out how to get to the City Ground. The ground is located in the south of Nottingham city centre, across the River Trent. The best way to get to the stadium is by public transport of walking. In this segment we briefly discuss all possible transporation options.

By Train

The Nottingham railway station is roughly 1.5 miles from the City Ground. When you talk from the railway station down towards the river, it will take you little under half an hour. Trains from across the country head towards the Nottingham railway station.

By Tram

The NET tram work operates in Nottingham. This links the wider area with the city centre. There is no direct stop outside the groun, so the best approach is to take the tram to Nottingham Station and walk from there to the stadium.

By Bus

The buses are operated by Nottingham City Transport. They run a frequent local services towards the City Ground. A typical journey from the city centre takes somewhere around 15–20 minutes. Buses depart from the main stops around Maid Marian Way and the city centre.

By Car

Parking around the stadium can be very tough. Even though the stadium is close to several main roads, it's not ideal to get there by car. Especially on matchday it will be very crowded. So we don't recommend to take your car to the stadium.

City Ground Guide

The City Ground has four stands: the Trent End, the Brian Clough Stand, the Peter Taylor Stand, and the Bridgford Stand. Every single stand has it own specific qualities. That's why we explain each stand for you, so you know which stand you should book your Nottingham Forest tickets for!

Trent End

Behind one goal sits the Trent End, the most vocal part of the ground and the home of Forest's loudest support. This two-tier stand, with its distinctive curved roof, is where the singing starts and the noise is at its strongest. If you want to be in the thick of the atmosphere, this is the stand for you.

Brian Clough Stand

Running along one side of the pitch is the towering, two-tier Brian Clough Stand, the largest at the ground. Built in 1980 and named after the manager who made Forest champions of Europe, it offers some of the clearest, most elevated views in the stadium, particularly from the upper tier, and is home to the club's designated family area.

Peter Taylor Stand

Opposite the Brian Clough Stand is the Peter Taylor Stand, named after Brian Clough's long-time assistant. Formerly the Executive Stand, it houses the directors' box, the media facilities and the bulk of the premium hospitality and executive boxes, making it the most comfortable place to watch a match.

Bridgford Stand

Behind the opposite goal to the Trent End is the two-tier Bridgford Stand, which borders the Trent Bridge cricket ground. Visiting supporters are housed in the lower tier of this stand, while the upper tier is given over to home fans who want good views from behind the goal.

Which Stand Should You Choose?

It's important to be able to make the best decision when booking your Nottingham Forest tickets. That's why we created this table with a quick comparison of all four stands. Check what matters most to you and you'll find the stand that fits what you're after.

Priority Best Stand Why
Best atmosphere Trent End The vocal heart of the City Ground, where the singing begins
Best view Brian Clough Stand Elevated, two-tier views from the ground's largest stand
First visit Brian Clough or Peter Taylor Stand A good balance of views and comfort
Hospitality Peter Taylor Stand Directors' box, executive boxes and premium lounges
Families Brian Clough Stand Home to the designated family area

Other Information

Nottingham Forest are one of the giants of English football, a club whose proudest achievement remains winning back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980 under the legendary Brian Clough. After relegation in 1999 they spent years in the Championship before winning the play-offs in 2022 to return to the top flight. A seventh-place finish in 2024/25 took them into the Europa League – their first European campaign in around three decades. The 2025/26 season was a turbulent one off the pitch, with four managers in a single campaign – Nuno Espírito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche all came and went before Vítor Pereira arrived in February. Pereira steadied the club, guided them to Premier League safety in 16th and led a memorable run to the Europa League semi-finals. The club is owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

English influences

Few clubs are as defined by an Englishman as Forest are by Brian Clough, the manager who took a provincial side and made them champions of England and, twice, of Europe. On the pitch, Stuart Pearce – "Psycho" – became the club's enduring modern icon, a fearless England left-back and long-serving captain. That thread runs into the present through Morgan Gibbs-White, the England-capped midfielder who has been Forest's creative heartbeat and leading scorer.

Nottingham Forest Honours & Trophies

Nottingham Forest are one of only a handful of English clubs to be crowned champions of Europe – and they did it twice. This is a list of the major honours they've won.

First Division / top-flight titles:

1 (1977/78)

Second Division titles:

Rivalries

Main Rivalry

Derby County

The East Midlands derby against Derby County is one of English football's fiercest local rivalries, with the two clubs contesting the Brian Clough Trophy in honour of the manager who took charge of both. It's a fixture steeped in history and bad blood, and remains the match many Forest fans look for first when the schedule is released.

Minor Rivalry

Leicester City

Leicester City are Forest's other East Midlands rivals, a rivalry felt most keenly by fans living around the Leicestershire–Nottinghamshire border. The two clubs have spent much of recent history in different divisions, which has taken some of the regularity out of the fixture, but the edge is still there whenever they meet.
