Champions League: Chelsea 1-0 Steaua | Napoli 2-0 Arsenal

Chelsea 1-0 Steaua Buchurest

Chelsea ended the night as Champions League Group E leaders, after a comprehensive 1-0 win over Steaua Bucharest. They went ahead in the tenth minute, Senegalese striker Demba Ba knocked the ball in at the far post after Oscar had flicked-on the ball from Willian's corner. Chelsea had opportunities to increase their lead, Ba and Edin Hazard coming closest, but David Luiz and Oscar both had shots that went wide. Gabriel Iancu nearly equalised for the visitors just after Ba's opener, but he scuffed his shot. Chelsea failed to capitalise on their early lead, but they defended solidly allowing Bucharest few chances and the win sees them advance to the knockout stage as group winners.

Napoli 2-0 Arsenal

Napoli beat Arsenal in a convincing 2-0 win, but the London team still qualified for the knockout phase of the Champions League for the 14th consecutive year. Both sides had chances in a goalless first-half. Giroud came close for Arsenal while Napoli's Maggio hit his shot over the bar and Gonzalo Higuain headed wide after being gifted the ball by Arsenal keeper Szczesny. Higuain finally got one for the hosts in the 73rd minute, collecting a pass from Callejon and slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Minutes later Miguel Arteta was sent off for a second bookable offence and Arsenal had their work cut out trying to defend. Jose Callejon got a second goal for Napoli deep into injury time, but Dortmund's win over Marseille meant Napoli were left in third place in the table and were knocked out of the competition.
