Champions League: Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund (agg 3-4)

Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid scored two late goals in this second-leg match, to ensure an exciting finish, but it wasn't enough to turn around the 4-1 first-leg deficit, and Borussia Dortmund will now progress to play either Barcelona or Bayern Munich final on the 25th May.

Madrid fans in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium were praying for a miracle and hoping to see their team run rampant over the opposition, as they've have done many times in La Liga this season, but they could only watch with their heads in their hands as Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil squandered early chances. Dortmund's defense held strong and repelled every attack Madrid could muster, and the teams went in at the break with nothing on the scoreboard.

Real's intensity had started to wane at the end of the first half, and when the teams reappeared after the break it was Jurgen Klopp's side who entertained the fans. Robert Lewandowski, who'd missed a chance in the first half, saw an attempt ricochet off the bar, and Ilkay Gundogan got on the end of a cross in the six yard area but was expertly denied by Real keeper Diego Lopez.

It was the last ten minutes where the game really came alive. In the 82nd minute, Madrid substitute Karim Benzema latched onto an Ozil cross and saw the ball go past Roman Weidenfeller, and six minutes later Sergio Ramos hammered his shot into the top of the net. The atmosphere was electrified as five minutes injury time was announced, but Dortmund composed themselves and Madrid failed to find a third goal which would have evened the score.
