Timber header gives Arsenal crucial Chelsea win

Jurriën Timber scored the winning goal as Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points. Manchester United climbed to third with victory over Crystal Palace, while Tottenham's relegation fears intensified after defeat at Fulham.

Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea: Timber the hero in London derby

Arsenal secured a vital victory in the London derby thanks to a second-half header from Dutch defender Jurriën Timber, extending their lead over Manchester City back to five points.

In a tight encounter at the Emirates Stadium, set-pieces proved decisive with all three goals coming from corners.

Arsenal took the lead midway through the first half when William Saliba's header deflected off Mamadou Sarr and into the net. The Gunners looked comfortable until stoppage time in the first half, when Piero Hincapié turned the ball into his own net to gift Chelsea an equaliser.

Timber restored Arsenal's advantage in the second half with a powerful header from another corner, sparking wild celebrations at the Emirates. The Dutch international has become an increasingly important figure for Mikel Arteta's side.

Chelsea's task became even harder when Pedro Neto was sent off late in the game. Despite being reduced to ten men, the Blues almost snatched a point, but goalkeeper David Raya produced several stunning saves to preserve Arsenal's lead.

Title race implications

The victory was crucial for Arsenal's title bid. After a wobble that saw their lead shrink from nine points to just two, the Gunners have now won back-to-back matches to restore a five-point cushion – though City still have a game in hand.

Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace: Sesko strikes again

Manchester United moved up to third place in the Premier League with a come-from-behind victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

The visitors made a nightmare start for United, taking the lead after just four minutes through Maxence Lacroix's header. Palace defended resolutely for the remainder of the first half, with United struggling to create chances.

The game turned ten minutes after half-time when Lacroix was sent off for a foul that also conceded a penalty. Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted from the spot to level the scores.

With the extra man, United took control and Benjamin Sesko completed the turnaround with what proved to be the winning goal. The Slovenian striker continues to deliver crucial goals under interim manager Michael Carrick.

Joshua Zirkzee and Tyrell Malacia were both named on the bench for United.

Fulham 2-1 Tottenham: Spurs' crisis deepens

Tottenham Hotspur's miserable season continued with a 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, leaving them in 16th place and just two points above the relegation zone.

Igor Tudor's side, with Micky van de Ven wearing the captain's armband, fell behind after just seven minutes. Harry Wilson's goal stood despite protests from Spurs that Radu Drăgușin had been pushed in the build-up – a similar incident to the one that went against Arsenal last week, though this time no foul was given.

Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi doubled Fulham's lead with a composed finish after a neat one-two with Wilson. Spurs were second best throughout the first half.

Richarlison gave Tottenham hope when he converted Archie Gray's cross at the back post to make it 2-1, but despite late pressure – including Pape Matar Sarr firing into the side netting and João Palhinha having a shot blocked – the equaliser wouldn't come.

Spurs remain in deep trouble in 16th place, two points above Nottingham Forest (17th) and four clear of West Ham (18th). Neither of those sides won this weekend, providing small consolation for Tudor.
