Arsenal extend lead to seven points

January 31st, 2026 22:18

Arsenal rediscovered their winning form with a dominant 4-0 victory at Leeds United, while Chelsea and Liverpool both needed late drama to secure three points on a thrilling Saturday in the Premier League.

Leeds United 0-4 Arsenal: Gunners end winless run in style

Arsenal bounced back from three games without a win to thrash Leeds United at Elland Road and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points.

Mikel Arteta's side had drawn 0-0 against both Nottingham Forest and Liverpool before suffering a damaging 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, but they silenced any doubts with a commanding display in Yorkshire.

Martín Zubimendi opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, heading home from a Noni Madueke cross after an initial corner had been cleared. The Spaniard's goal broke the deadlock after Arsenal had dominated possession without creating clear chances.

The Gunners doubled their lead before half-time in fortunate circumstances. Madueke's corner flew directly towards goal and Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow got a touch but could only help the ball into his own net. Arsenal headed to the dressing room with a comfortable two-goal cushion.

Leeds came out fighting after the break, searching for a route back into the game, but Arsenal's defence held firm. Viktor Gyökeres killed the contest on 69 minutes, finishing smartly from Gabriel Martinelli's cross to make it 3-0.

Gabriel Jesus added gloss to the scoreline in the closing stages, turning cleverly after receiving a pass from Martin Ødegaard before firing past Darlow. The emphatic victory sends a clear message to Arsenal's title rivals ahead of Manchester City's clash with Tottenham on Sunday.

Chelsea 3-2 West Ham: Fernández breaks Hammers hearts in stoppage time

Chelsea staged a remarkable comeback to beat West Ham United 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, with Enzo Fernández scoring a dramatic 93rd-minute winner.

The Hammers looked set for a famous victory after racing into a 2-0 lead. Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a curling effort, before Crysencio Summerville doubled the advantage ten minutes before half-time. The Dutch winger's fourth goal in four games sent the travelling supporters into delirium.

Chelsea's problems deepened when Jamie Gittens limped off injured before the break. Manager Liam Rosenior made changes at the interval, withdrawing Jorrel Hato and introducing João Pedro.

The substitution proved inspired. The Brazilian forward headed Chelsea back into the contest early in the second half, sparking belief around Stamford Bridge. Marc Cucurella, who replaced Hato, then completed the comeback with 20 minutes remaining, heading in from close range after the ball had struck the crossbar.

West Ham defended desperately in search of a point, with Summerville continuing to threaten on the break. Jean-Clair Todibo thought he had won it for the visitors when he struck the post in the 86th minute.

But there was late heartbreak for the Hammers. Fernández fired home in the 93rd minute to complete a stunning turnaround and send Stamford Bridge wild. The drama wasn't over – Todibo was shown a straight red card deep in stoppage time for grabbing João Pedro by the throat.

The victory keeps Chelsea firmly in the top-four hunt, while West Ham remain in the relegation zone in 18th place.

Liverpool 4-1 Newcastle: Emotional Konaté goal caps Reds' return to form

Liverpool finally ended their Premier League winless run with a convincing 4-1 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield in an emotional evening on Merseyside.

Arne Slot's side had not won in the league since December 27, with last week's heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth the latest setback. But a clinical second-half display ended their struggles in emphatic fashion.

Newcastle started brightly and went close through Harvey Barnes, who rattled the post from a set-piece. The Magpies took a deserved lead ten minutes before half-time when Anthony Gordon – a Liverpool-born player – finished coolly to stun the Anfield crowd.

Liverpool's response was swift and devastating. Florian Wirtz danced through the Newcastle defence before teeing up Hugo Ekitiké for the equaliser. The French striker then put Liverpool ahead before the break with a clever finish into the far corner, capping a superb first-half turnaround.

Wirtz extended Liverpool's lead after the interval, collecting a pass from Mohamed Salah and sweeping the ball into the net. The German playmaker has been a revelation since his January move.

The most emotional moment came late in the game when Ibrahima Konaté headed home Liverpool's fourth. The French defender, who recently lost his father, broke down in tears as he celebrated. Captain Virgil van Dijk was quickly on hand to comfort his teammate in a touching moment that resonated around Anfield.

Superb! Easy to purchase a ticket. I had a live customer service chat once, the staff member was so polite, helpful and informative. I loved the communication after purchase. On the match day they contacted me on WhatsApp if I want an upgrade on my tickets for free and after my confirmation I got my tickets within a minute. Great experience, thank you.

This is the best and most trusted website to get your tickets to any world event. I have used them 3 times throughout the years, I have used other sites for football matches and they are so transparent and fast, the first time I used them was in 2018 for a Roma match and then made the mistake to use a different site for the PSG match in April and they were terrible, from the website, customer service and responses. this is the only site I trust and use!

Bought 2 Club Wembley tickets less than 48 hours before the Championship Play Off Final. Good communication and tickets arrived the following day by email. No problems getting into the stadium and seats were great. Unfortunately my team’s performance was the only let down. Would definitely use this company again.
