Second round of World Cup group stages kicked off

The first round of the 2022 World Cup group stages is finally behind us. In the first round teams need to adjust to the tournament and hold back a little. The second round is usually the one where decisions can be made. The first teams will qualify and get knocked out in the second round. So this is where teams really need to step up to keep their eyes on a place in the knockout stages. When the tournament gets more advanced, World Cup 2022 tickets are getting more and more popular.

Group A: Qatar is out!

The first match of Group A was the battle between Qatar and Senegal. Both teams lost their first match, so this battle was a do or die match for both teams. Senegal scored late in the first and early in the second half to get a save 2 goal lead. Towards the end of the second half, both teams scored a goal each. With a 3-1 victory Senegal can still compete for a ticket in the next round. Host nation Qatar is now the first country eliminated from the tournament. The second match in this was a quite boring match between Ecuador and Netherlands. Both teams scored a goal, which led to a 1-1 draw. They are now both on 4 points and on route to the next round. Ecuador v Senegal will most likely be the match to decide which team will join Netherlands at the top of this group.

Group B: Still all to play for

The day opened with the battle between Iran and Wales. It looked to become a goalless draw when Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey got sent off. In extra time Iran got two goals and the three points. In the same group England and USA closed the day. This was the match that ended in a goalless draw. England tops the group now with 4 points, followed by Iran with 3 points, USA with 2 points and Wales with 1. Wales needs a 4-0 victory over England to get through to the next round. Iran and USA are going to decide which of them two will qualify for the knockout stages. Wales, USA and England World Cup tickets are still available.
