West Ham surpasses Liverpool on Premier League table

The last match of this Premier League block was a very exciting one. Liverpool travelled to London to defend their third place in the match against West Ham United. The Hammers were just two points behind their opponents and started this season very strong. They were the surprise package of last season and are still surprising everyone in this current season. The European distraction haven’t caused them a lot of points so far. In this article we talk about the exiting match at the Olympic Stadium in London between West Ham United and Liverpool.

Early error to open score

It was an early error by the Liverpool goalkeeper that opened the score. Becker misjudged a corner and Liverpool was behind within a few minutes after the start. Complaints by the Liverpool players about a possible error on the goalkeeper were dismissed by the referee. So West Ham United took an early lead. Liverpool tried to do something back quickly, but it took them until the last couple of minutes in the first half to score an equaliser. Trent Alexander-Arnold placed a free-kick perfectly in the top corner. With a 1-1 score both teams went back into the dressing room.

Two halves in one

The second half was one with two faces. The first part of the second half went by without any goals. In the second part it all kicked off. It started with Fornals who scored the 2-1 for West Ham United in the 67th minute. Only five minutes later Kurt Zouma doubled the lead by scoring the 3-1. About ten minutes after this goal, it was Divock Origi who scored the 3-2 for Liverpool. With only ten minutes to play they had every opportunity to get a point back to Liverpool. However, West Ham’s defense managed to dissmiss every Liverpool attack in the final part of the game. This means a 3-2 victory for West Ham, which is enough for them to take over the third place of Liverpool.
