Chelsea tough nut to crack for Real Madrid

Chelsea proves to be a tough nut to crack for Real Madrid. We’re not talking about on the pitch, but it’s off the pitch this time. To be more exact: in the boardroom where transfers are discussed. Real Madrid is very interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and his fellow Belgium national team star Eden Hazard.

It’s the Hazard deal that’s going to be a tough one to get done for Real Madrid. Several media outlets claim that Courtois will move to Madrid for about £ 31 million. Courtois’ personal situation almost forces Chelsea to accept this deal. His ex-wife lives in Madrid together with their two children. He really wants to live closer to his kids, so this deal would be perfect for the entire Courtois family. When Chelsea refuses to sell him, they will have one very unhappy goalkeeper.

The Eden Hazard deal is going to be a lot harder for Real Madrid to get done. The Belgium attack midfielder already expressed his feelings about a possible transfer. Real Madrid is his dream club and he hopes Chelsea will let him go. Especially now he is 27 years and in the peak of his career, he wants to play in the top of the Champions League. Chelsea failed to qualify for this season’s Champions League. Eden Hazard in his World Cup form is way too good to spend his time players in the Europa League. Chelsea however refuses to sell him for anything less than £ 200 million. This is double the amount Real Madrid received when selling Cristiano Ronaldo to PSG. The big question is if they are willing to pay this amount, or if they will switch their focus to another player.

Time is running out for Chelsea with the Community Shield match coming in two weeks. Since this season the transfer marketplace closes a few days before the start of the Premier League. Four days after the CS final, the transfer market will close. So if Chelsea want to find good replacements, they can’t wait too long with their decisions concerning Courtois’ and Hazard’s future.
