There was an issue with a ticket at the turnstile of the stadium. I messaged the customer support number provided and James from LFT replied in minutes. This was then followed by a phone call and everything was sorted by him and me and my family could enjoy the game. Would 100% use again.

Bought my tickets for the FA-Cup final at Thursday and got the tickets around 2 PM Friday. No problems with the tickets into the arena everything went smoothly! Great seats at the Chelsea end, shame about the results.

First time using “Live Football Tickets” for an event but the reviews were good and Ai told me they were the best 3rd-party site to use. Ticket selection was easy on their site with prices clearly displayed and the transaction perfect. The ticket prices I was willing to purchase were well over face value but I was grateful they were offered. Fees per ticket were high but again, I paid without question. If I had a small complaint it would be that their statement “tickets will be with you within 24 hours of your event start” was not met and so had to email them at t-23 hours. I received a swift and reassuring response from the team (Sam) and that I was to proceed with my travel plans for the event as I was assured the e-tickets would arrive in time and sure enough a few hours later (still a day before the event) they arrived with a request to confirm I’d received them from the same “Sam”, so the continuity of my query was initiated, delivered and followed up by the same team member. I liked that a lot. I would definitely use Live Football Tickets again and have already recommended them to others. They helped make a special day be successful. Thank you.

Bought FA cup final tickets the night before the game. Within an hour links to my tickets arrived by email along with clear instructions about how to download to my wallet - no problems whatsoever. The whole process was smooth. Tickets were obviously over face value but worth it to us. It was my first time using LiveFootballTickets so was initially apprehensive but wouldn’t hesitate again.

Portugal vs. DR Congo Tickets – World Cup 2026 | LiveFootballTickets.com

Portugal's meeting with DR Congo on 16 June marks the opening World Cup fixture for both sides, with kick‑off set for 6pm UK time at NRG Stadium in Houston. It's the first chance for each team to set the tone of their campaign, whether that's Portugal looking to establish early control or DR Congo aiming to show they belong on this stage. With their experience and attacking quality, Portugal will naturally enter as strong favourites, but DR Congo arrive with momentum from a demanding qualification campaign and a reputation for unsettling more established nations.

NRG Stadium, one of the standout venues of the tournament, provides an ideal backdrop for this opener. Its indoor setting ensures perfect playing conditions, while Houston's strong football culture should help generate a lively atmosphere. With Portugal expected to dominate the ball and DR Congo likely to approach the match with discipline, this opener has the potential to be far more competitive than many anticipate.

How to Buy Tickets for Portugal vs. DR Congo

Demand for World Cup fixtures will be high, and tickets are expected to move quickly once allocations open. In fact, our customer service team regularly hear from fans who want to know: How can I book World Cup tickets? And it can be tricky. Let's walk you through all the steps so you can start thinking about booking your flights across the Atlantic.

  1. Select the match you want to attend and click 'View Tickets'.
  2. Select the area you would like to sit within the stadium graphic on the right-hand side.

  5. Complete the order form using your personal details.
  6. Don't forget to check that all your information has been input and is correct.
  7. Click 'Make Payment'.
  8. The tickets are now yours!

Ticket prices tend to vary depending on the seat category and match type, so do bear that in mind when selecting matches. Some games, mainly knockout matches or popular teams, can sell out incredibly quickly, so make sure you book early and are on high alert for when tickets come on sale!

Portugal vs. DR Congo Preview & Predictions

Portugal come into this fixture with strong recent form and a squad packed with experience, giving them a clear edge on paper. Their technical quality and attacking depth usually allows them to control matches, and they'll expect to dominate possession again here. DR Congo, however, shouldn't be dismissed lightly. They've been one of Africa's most consistent risers in recent years, organised, disciplined, and capable of unsettling opponents, no matter how big.

There's no meaningful head‑to‑head history between the sides, which gives the fixture a bit of unpredictability, but tactically the matchup is straightforward: Portugal will look to dictate the tempo, while DR Congo will aim to stay compact and break quickly through their wide players. The key battles will come in midfield, where Portugal's control will be tested by DR Congo's work rate and pressing.

Portugal remain strong favourites, but DR Congo have enough about them to make this more competitive than many expect.

Key Players to Watch

Portugal arrive with several players capable of making a difference in this match, with Bruno Fernandes central to their creativity and control in midfield. His passing range, movement and ability to unlock compact defences make him crucial against a disciplined DR Congo side. Rúben Dias provides leadership at the back, organising the defensive line and dealing with transitions, while Cristiano Ronaldo, despite being 41, remains difficult to write off; his experience, movement and eye for goal still make him a threat in key moments.

For DR Congo, Yoane Wissa is the standout threat, bringing pace and the ability to punish Portugal in transition. In midfield, Samuel Moutoussamy plays a key role in keeping the team compact, disrupting Portugal's rhythm and covering huge distances out of possession. Out wide, Grady Diangana offers creativity, giving DR Congo a genuine outlet when they break forward.

NRG Stadium – Match Venue

With its cutting‑edge design and retractable roof, NRG Stadium, which will be known as "Houston Stadium" throughout the World Cup, is one of the most eagerly awaited host venues at this summer's tournament. Located in Houston, Texas, the stadium combines advanced technology with comfort and features a natural grass pitch and a fully enclosed roof for climate control. Though it doesn't yet share the decades of history seen at stadiums like Estadio Azteca, the stadium is home to the NFL's Houston Texans and has proven itself as a world‑class host for major events, including two Super Bowls, the NCAA Final Four, and international football matches. Opened in 2002, its world‑class facilities and Houston's passionate sports culture make it a must‑visit destination for fans heading to the US, offering a matchday experience that feels both modern and genuinely atmospheric.

How to Get to NRG Stadium for This Match

Getting to NRG Stadium from central Houston is fairly straightforward, but it's worth planning ahead as match‑day traffic can build quickly. The easiest option for most fans is to take a taxi or rideshare, with the journey from Downtown usually taking around 15–25 minutes, depending on traffic. Public transport is also a solid choice: the METRORail Red Line runs directly to NRG Park Station, which is only a short walk from the stadium and often the most reliable way to avoid congestion. Several bus routes also serve the area, with extra services typically added for major events. If you're driving, aim to arrive early, as parking around the stadium fills up fast and queues can form well before kick‑off. Walking from the city centre isn't practical due to distance, so organised transport is your best bet, especially on a busy match day when the atmosphere builds long before you reach the ground.

NRG Stadium Fan Guide for Match Day

Match days at NRG Stadium always feel like a proper occasion, and Portugal vs. DR Congo should be no different. The fan zones around the stadium usually open well before kick‑off, offering food stalls, live music, and plenty of space for supporters to mingle. If you're looking for a pre‑match gathering spot, the surrounding NRG Park area has a handful of bars and casual restaurants that fill up quickly, especially with travelling fans keen to soak up the atmosphere. For something a bit more relaxed, nearby neighbourhoods like Midtown and the Museum District offer great pubs and restaurants before you head to the ground. Around the stadium itself, expect a lively mix of Portuguese supporters, DR Congo fans, and local football enthusiasts, all adding to a friendly build‑up. Houston tends to embrace big sporting events, so the city will feel energetic throughout the day as the game grows closer.

Head-to-Head History: Portugal vs. DR Congo

Portugal and DR Congo meet in 2026 with no previous head‑to‑head history, making this one of the more unusual fixtures of the group stage. The two nations have never faced each other at a men's World Cup, nor have they met in qualifiers, continental competitions or senior‑level friendlies. Their footballing paths have just never crossed, leaving this fixture without any established narrative.

The lack of past meetings creates a fixture defined entirely by their differences rather than rivalry. Portugal arrive as a European powerhouse with a long record of deep tournament runs, technical quality and big‑game experience. DR Congo, meanwhile, bring intensity, physicality and a team spirit forged through a demanding qualification campaign.

With no history to go off, their first‑ever meeting will be shaped solely by current form and tactical approach. It adds an element of mystery to an already intriguing opening round game.
